Publisher's summary

It’s Christmas in Tablerock, Texas! The cat-rescuing mother-daughter duo of Ellie and Evie Rockwell just want to find some cats their forever homes for the holidays. Instead, they find themselves solving a real-life Christmas mystery straight out of a storybook.

When the town’s beloved librarian, Alice Grey, is found bludgeoned to death by a fruitcake at the start of the Christmas season, it shatters the community’s tranquility. What’s more, it leaves the librarian’s lone cat, Ginger, alone and bewildered at the Silver Circle Cat Rescue for the holidays. But once the marmalade-colored cat pleads for their help solving its owner’s strange Christmas murder, they are quickly tangled up in a mystery as twisted as any fairy tale.

As they navigate a plot as twisted as any Dickens’ story Alice Grey eagerly quoted, mother-daughter cat rescuers Ellie and Evie Rockwell discover the demure librarian had managed to accumulate an enemies list as towering as the shelves of books she so lovingly maintained.

Will Ellie and Evie solve the murder before the final page is turned?

Find out in “Fairy Tales, Fruitcake, and Murder”, the fourth book in a purr-fectly paranormal midlife cozy mystery series.

Belladonna’s back

Leanne Leeds has written a great series in the Silver Circle Cat Rescue Mysteries. I so enjoy having recurring characters and new ones to each book. The Cat Cafe setting lets me envision so many details. Although each book is a standalone, I have enjoyed the series from the first book. Meghan Kelly continues to perform these books exceptionally well. She adds the right inflection to her voice to convey “cat attitude” perfectly.

Suspenseful

Control, greed, and jealousy were prominent motivators in this highly suspenseful story with twist after twist. Just when you think you've got the answers there was more to be revealed. They way the answers were teased out piece by piece and still some things were held back. Like a good magician, a good mystery leaves you wanting more. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Homicide by Fruitcake!

Ellie and Evie Rockwell are in Tablerock, TX for Christmas at the Silver Circle Cat Rescue. They are doing whatever they can to find some cats their forever homes, but that falls to the wayside when the town's librarian is found beaten to death with a fruitcake. Alice Grey was an unassuming soul, but you know that assuming doesn't get you anywhere. She had a secret life, hidden well by her profession, and now it's time to get to the bottom of who wanted her gone. This is similar to a cat and mouse game where you are sure of the answers, just to see them slip away. Evie is the one in the bunch who has the foresight to analyze the situation and follow new clues wherever they go. The mystery was interesting, just a little far-fetched, but that's what made it perfect! Meghan Kelly is at the top of her game and I always look forward to her narration. Each character has a unique voice and she is able to infuse a depth of emotion to make them come alive. With this story, she meets and beats my expectations.

Enjoyable Cozy Mystery

This was another great addition to this series all the great characters and critters are back. This time it's holiday season and another murder and an orphan cat that just might be able to help. Meghan Kelly always does a great job with the narration. I highly recommend.

Fabulous, Fun, Entertaining, Perfect!

All of my favorite characters are back as the Silver Circle Cat Rescue gets busy preparing for Christmas in “Fairy Tales, Fruitcake, and Murder”! Now,
fruitcake might be known for a lot of things, some of them … unpleasant, but as an instrument for doing away with someone? That’s a new one and it has Ellie, Evie, and the crew chasing clues! This cheekily written plot is smooth, interesting, FUN, and engagingly entertaining! As fun as this story is, it’s also deeper than just a extremely well written mystery. What sets this story, this series apart is the incredibly realistic, incredibly deep, human characters, some facing incredible real life challenges! Not to worry, all is throughly, sensitively explained by our author! A delightful bonus is the addition of a new, snarky, cantankerous, feline named Ginger! This crabby gent has completely stolen this listeners heart AND you won’t believe whose eye he catches! That’s as much as I’m going to say, these lips are zipped. Listen and see if you don’t lose your heart to him as well! Ginger, Bella Donna and the rest of the cast came beautifully alive through my headphones thanks to the magic of truly stunning voice acting! Every character was perfect! Every vocal choice exquisite and emotionally powerful, truly giving beautiful life to the authors vision. I truly loved this one! Five fabulous stars!

THAT'S ONE EXPENSIVE MURDER WEAPON

THAT'S ONE EXPENSIVE MURDER WEAPONwhat with the price of the ingredients nowadays.
The new cat on the block is a bit of a hard nose when it comes to helping solve murder so l guess this is a harder mystery to solve.
Wow, is Belladonna mellowing? Are kittens in the future? l cannot remember if the adoption cats are neutered when they first come in , although now l think of it , in a previous book there was this one cat who took advantage of the talking plate to dissabuse the vet of any fond connection after she took his tom cathood away then wore balls for earrings taunting him. That conversation had me in stitches.
This is a clean mystery that teenagers onward can read/listen to. The narration was perfect for the characters. RECOMMENDED.

Fun!

This was a delightful fun story. The magic of the platter that let the cats talk to the humans made for an entertaining experience. Murder was never so delightful.
Meghan is a wonderful narrator. She keeps it interesting with her voices for the characters. I know exactly which character is speaking.

A Suspenseful and Baffling Case!

Fairytales, Fruitcake and Murder is #4 in the Cozy Magic Midlife Mystery series (Silver Circle Cat Rescue Mysteries) by Leanne Leeds. It’s Christmastime, and cat cafe is busier than ever and so are Ellie and Evie! The last thing anyone needs is a murder of Alice Grey, town’s librarian, during the town’s tree lighting ceremony. Ellie and her friends are stunned to learn about Alice from her cat Ginger (via the magic platter). As the peel back the layers of this crime, everything gets more complicated. There are so many twists and turns in the case that Ellie and friends get discouraged and question their own sleuthing skills! The narration by Meghan Kelly is absolutely 10+ stars! She creates unique voices for each of the many characters. It is amazing that one performer can have such a range and abilities. Sometimes I have to stop the audiobook to admire Ms. Kelly’s talents and skills. She brings the characters and story to life. I highly recommend this book series and this narrator. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Even the quietest person can hold a huge secret

Another murder in a small town. The nicest and quietest person in town is being murdered. The team of friends jumps again to solve the murder. Nobody wants to wait for the police to solve it. They have a magic plate and an orange cat, Ginger, who can help. Also to spice it up, there is a romance between Ginger and Bella Donna, the two main cats of the story. The story was interesting and entertaining
The narrator, Meghan Kelly, did a wonderful job. Every character had its voice and personality. You could practically see the cats when they were talking and showing their emotions.
