Loved it

This was a great story. Allie seems to get blamed for everything by the town. Her sister however always seemed to get what she wanted because she was beautiful. I was not surprised the fae took her. I could see the little bits of darkness in her from Allie"s memories of her. Her little pet fae that was caged turned out to be an evil creature as well. All the fae were dark & evil. I can't wait for book 2. if you like faires & fae I recommend this book.

Oh cliffhanger .....

This is an amazing story! It’s tough to grow up and even tougher to be thrust into a job you know nothing about, then throw some smart mouthed fae in the mix... be prepared to learn as ally learns and see who you would trust a long the way...

Torn

First of all, I loved the narration. However, the story had promised but it meandered and was full of info dumps and flashbacks to the point that the plot was entirely lost at times. Ally is in awe of her sister who has shown herself to be a horrible person through flashbacks. Ally is also immature but shoulders the blame for everything because she went along with what her sister wanted, and blamed for other people's bad decisions. It was over the top. The human boy had a personality all over the place, he was "nice" one minute but manipulative and horrible the next. I wish there was less whining in the book overall especially from someone who is the only one trying to get anything done. This could have been a 3-4 star if not for those things and the abrupt end. It's abrupt even for a cliffhanger.

A Old Take On Fae

This was a very interesting and original story . Allie is a underdog heroine that you love to root for . While I have mixed feelings about all of the other characters ,Allie makes it worthwhile . I would love to see what happens next !

Fabulous Narrator to Match a Wonderfully Fae Story

I want to take a moment to state that this type of fae is very appealing to me. It’s not your Disney, sugary sweet kind of fairy. It’s more like the Irish faerie tales from history that show how proud, crafty, and non-human they are. It really works for my love of dark, dangerous men that normally become a love interest at some point.

This story does a great job using that archetype for fae and asking what makes a monster. And why does being different make you the enemy. I liked this subtle undertone that carried throughout. It wasn’t overly in-your-face with the commentary, just flowed naturally based on the characters and the situation. And I liked the characterizations. The author did a great job with a large secondary cast without bogging down the story.

Loved the narrator for this one. She did a great job adding inflection and character to each voice. That lent gravity to the dark tones and felt just right for the tone of the story.

My small complaint would be that there were some dialogues that seemed to go a little too long. Those instances felt like the characters were looping around their point too long. It kinda killed the build up for the next reveal. But it really didn’t detract from my enjoyment that much.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes the darker side of fae. Or if you enjoyed Peadar O’Guilin’s The Call. This book shared many similar traits to the things I liked about it. Definitely check them both out!

Slow and a little muddled, but has promise

Gonna give this one 3.5 stars. The narration was fantastic, very well done. The story felt, at times, like it wasn’t quite sure where it was going, until almost the end. There are a lot of awful people that Ally has to deal with, and the Fae in this story are definitely the villains. It’s a small town, where people are known by their jobs, and there definitely seems to be a pecking order, despite everyone needing to pitch in to help in their way. Also a very closed minded mob mentality in the village. And I can’t figure out what is up with Olin. He likes her, he helps her, then he hates her and blames her for everything, then he seems ok, then not. I don’t know what to do with the whiplash. And her mom, also some whiplash, she’s upset, then protective, then angry, then suddenly out of nowhere she decides to try to sort of vaguely help. There literally seems to be no one helping in this book, and everyone blames Ally for everything. But the ending brings a bit of redemption, with a bit of a twist, and now I’m curious where the story will go from here....because it was definitely a cliffhanger. Hopefully it will find a better, more consistent direction in the next book.

I received this audiobook free in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Fantastic Adventure

I really loved Fae Hunter. I liked the author’s attention to detail and descriptions. It was easy for me to imagine Allie’s world and become completely immersed in her tale. Allie starts a little naive but she’s quick to figure out the things she doesn’t know. Learning from her mistakes along the way. I admire her determination, resilience and loyalty to the ones she loves. I could see Allie becoming quite a formidable opponent as her character grows stronger with knowledge and experience. I haven’t quite made my mind up about Scourvel but I think I like him. I’m eager to find out how the next part of Allie’s journey will play out and if my feelings toward Scourvel will change. I would definitely recommend this book.

Fae Hunter

The cover is beautiful and matches the story. If you love fantasy and fairies then you'll love this book. my only negative is that we get less dialogue and more internal thoughts. However, it is intriguing, has some tension and suspense. I am sure it would pick up as the story progresses in the other books in the series.

Fae Hunter

I really enjoyed this book. The fairytales you were told as children may not always be sunshine and daisies. Allie learned this the hard way. Her twin sister was taken by Fae and now she is determined to find her. Her new blindness is very unique and sensitive to magic. Very interested to see what happens next.

Fae Hunter

When you think that the storys you where told as a kid was just story's Allie soon finds out the hard way that it wasn't. When Allie and twin sister dance in the ring circle and released fea onto there village and her sister disappeared, Allie is left with the fall out. This story is the beginning book of Sarah's new series and I enjoyed reading and listening to it. Full of mischief fae that love to play games, cause havoc and inflicted pain, Allie will have her work cut out to put things right.
Looking forward to the next one.
