Good plot line

The story was good, lots of plot twists and suspense for a romance-ish novel. The narrator was good, but the audio quality was a little off. It was almost muffled on my headphones so I had to turn up the volume more than I'd like to be able to understand the narrator. Great story, I definitely recommend!

Fading Desire had me hooked right from the start. There is so much angst, longing, and emotion and I was immediately invested in Maya and Tommy! The amnesia trope can sometimes be a tough sell for me, but I thought it was handled really well here especially because Tommy remembers everything, while Maya doesn't; the dual POVs were great for this. The yearning was everything.

I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters, it kept me listening. Overall I had a great time with it and found myself wanting to keep listening to see how everything would work out. The spice was great, not overly excessive and paced perfectly. The friendships between the girls were so well done as well, it made me long to go to their salon.

I also have to give a shoutout to the narrator. Emily's voice was such a pleasure to listen to and added so much charm to the story. Her voice is SO soothing and kept me entranced. She handled the male character voices surprisingly well, and I found myself immersed in the story rather than thinking about the narration, which is (to me) always a sign of a great performance. I listened at 1x, 1.3x, and 2x speeds and the narration remained clear and enjoyable throughout. I found 1.3x to be my sweet spot as I typically listen on a faster speed, so for listeners who like to speed things up a bit, this audiobook handles it well. She brought warmth and emotion to the characters, and I'd happily listen to another audiobook narrated by her.

It Was Ok

I asked for a free code and agreed to review it.
If I were an indie author, with not much money to spend on narration, I would make a deal with this narrator in a heartbeat. It was definitely better than AI. The production value wasn't great though. It went from sounding loud and clear, to quiet, muffled and a little like she was speaking into a tin can many times throughout the book. The narrator is excellent, as long as there's dialogue. When it's just the main character's thoughts, it sounds like any random person reading aloud, instead of a voice actor narrating an audiobook. I caught one sentence being read back to back and a phrase later in the book repeated back to back, that should have been edited out. I'm sure this narrator will get better with more experience. I'm American, and her accent made chapter 30, 5 minutes in, sounds like: "I will 100% be having my bowel moment on that ladder."

The writing was okay, but it needed better editing. The author wrote redundant things like: "looking visually annoyed" "I think to myself" "work remotely from anywhere" "yet, still" etc. Chapter 42, "What does he actually want with her? To be with her? Because I know for a fact, she won't go for that." Yeah, so do all your readers.
I didn't love the FMC who ignored red flags for months. It made no sense that no one showed her a picture of the man that might want to hurt her. She probably had pictures of him on her phone. Even if she had to get a new phone, you don't just lose everything these days. Even if she didn't know her password, most accounts have facial recognition or fingerprint access these days. Jake and Tommy's phone numbers would have already been in her phone.
