Publisher's summary

The first book in a new series by Lucy Lennox!

Nico:

I left my family and tiny Texas hometown 15 years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I'm shocked out of the steady life I've built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco.

The thing is: I don't do babies. And I don't do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don't do family. My plan is to go back to Hobie just long enough to sign adoption papers, giving my niece the kind of stable, loving family I could never provide.

But the moment I meet my niece in the arms of Weston Wilde, my sister's best friend and the town's handsome doctor, my plans begin to change. Because suddenly, I see a different future. One with the very thing I thought I never deserved: a family. If only I can convince West that I'm not the same good-for-nothing kid ready to bolt when things get tough.

Weston:

There's one thing I know for sure about Nico Salerno: he was a good-for-nothing as a kid and judging by the purple-haired, tattooed punk who shows up at his sister's funeral, he hasn't changed. There's no way I'm letting him take custody of my best friend's baby.

But the more time I spend around him, the more I realize that his rough exterior is just a shell and that beneath all the tattoos is a scared, insecure man searching for a place to belong. And pretty soon I know exactly where he belongs: in my bed and by my side.

The problem is, he abandoned his family once before, how do I know that if we become a family he won't do it again?

I loved the Made Marian series so I was excited to check out this spin off series. I have to say this book was SUPER sweet and hot! I really like a single dad story so give me 2 single dads and I fell in love. Nico is a little damaged but West is perfect for him because he understands. The ending for perfect! Seriously I can't wait to start book 2!

Michael Pauley is a good narrator. I enjoy all his work but his sex scenes are a little to angry for me lol He always sounds like he's mad and yelling.

Narrator Michael Pauley Blew it out of the Water!

Would you consider the audio edition of Facing West to be better than the print version?

I would have enjoyed this story as a print book, but I'm so glad I listened to the audiobook first. The performance was excellent. I'll get into that in the question specifically about the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite characters were the saucy grandpas who couldn't help meddling. They were always there to be supportive and give the main characters a kind nudge in the right direction.

What does Michael Pauley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hot Dayum!
Michael Pauley is ridiculously good. Not only did he read each first-person section in character (it switches from Nico to West every other chapter), he did it with emotion, excellent timing, and recognizable voice differentiation for all the secondary characters. Even though he had a limited range of voices (everyone does who isn't Mel Blanc, after all), I still knew which character was talking.
Narrators are a dime a dozen, but really GOOD ones are harder to find. Especially for books with graphic sex scenes. And Michael's voice was pure sex when it came down to it.
There were a couple awkward moments, like a word mispronunciation or really emotional moment that didn't quite make it, but otherwise I would actively seek out this narrator again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was, but that would be a spoiler, now, wouldn't it?
Let's just say, there was some breaking down of walls, crying, and a tender interaction that hadn't previously been possible.

Any additional comments?

If you're into emotional connections, seriously sexy times, true love conquering all, two tough men loving a baby, and happily ever afters, you won't be disappointed.

Lightning strikes twice!!!

I for one will be waiting on pins and needles for the next installment of this series. So far it's as wonderful and whimsical as the Made Marian series. I didn't thing that Lucy Lennox could top the character Ganny in the Marian series but boy did she! This starts with Nico's story. I loved Nico from the previous series and Lucy nails it!!! The main characters are interesting and worth caring about. In typical fashion all the emotions are there. To hear Nico's backstory tore at my heart and made me love this character even more. If you have read the Made Marian series you are going to love this one just as much. If you haven't read them this novel can be read on its own. Well done Lucy Lennox well done!!!

Better than the Marion series

I liked the Marion series, but this is my favorite Lennox novel so far. Characters were dynamic and endearing- can't wait for more in the series.

Sweet Love Story

Definitely worth the listen. I am a huge Michael Pauley fan, however, thought the accents may have been a bit much in this book.

Good Time in Texas

I loved this book. The mains were hot as Hades, with a touch of bad boy tossed in. As a born and bred Texan myself, I can attest to the lovely drawl that West has. Down home boy for sure y'all! I don't like to spoil too much, but the passion that ignites between West and Nico is a true test of wills, one that you need to read to truly understand. Give it a chance and have a good time down here in Texas.

Meh. It was ok.

Lucy Lennox is a reliably average-good (but more average) writer. I still keep buying her books though! I know it’s guaranteed to be an acceptable easy listen, acting as a filler book until I get my next good one. This book (as with all of hers) is the equivalent of putting on a chick flick movie for an evening in. You know that you’ll come away feeling that you didn’t waste a credit (not fully anyway), but even a week later you will have forgotten what happened in the book. Zero lasting impact, and you certainly don’t think about the characters or reminisce when you finish ..simply move on to the next book!

Brilliant listen , Brilliant story , Brilliant narration

From the first 5 minutes I was drawn in... the story is believable as are all of the characters. An easy listen that is a mixture of fun, cheeky, sad and also hot as hell. Michael Pauley is awesome and his voices and characterisations make this book pop !

brilliant

just as good as the marian series!
it's nice to learn more about Nicco and where he came from.
yet again Lucy doesn't shy from the things that can happen to runaways but deals with them in a realistic anf sensative way

Loved it!

I loved the book when I read it first time around. I love all the books in this series. For a re-read I thought I’d go for the audible version - I was not disappointed. Michael Pauley does an amazing job and the voices he uses for each character just seems to sync with everything I had envisaged when I read it the first time.

I found myself laughing, crying and just really enjoying sinking into the characters. For some reason the funny dialogue is even more enjoyable when listening to it. Great job Lucy Lennox as always can’t wait to see where you go with this series and Michael haven’t come across one book that you’ve narrated that I haven’t loved, just awesome!!

A must read for parents in particular.

Heart warming and filled with drama, affection and humorous this book will put a smile on your face.

Can't wait for more and I love how she managed to work the lovable Marian's into ANOTHER story.

PS the sex was hot as hell.

I'm going to enjoy this series

I loved Nico and West, well I loved Nico from the start but it took me at least 30% into the book to start liking West.
I'm looking forward to more of the Wilde families stories.

Nico gets his HEA!

Facing West is the first book in the Forever Wilde. A small town MM romance with second chance and opposites attract tropes.

After fifteen years Nico (yes, Nico from Made Marian) is called to his hometown after the passing of his sister and custody of his niece. Nico does not do babies...he has a plan to return to Hobie, sign the adoption papers and then go home. But things don't go to plan.

West the small town doctor remembers Nico well he's is convinced he hasn't changed and can't just hadn't over his best friends baby.

Now usually I'm not a huge fan of books with babies (kids in general...I'd just rather not) but with Lucy's small town vibes it's hard not to look past it. I always find that the children/babies hit different in MM romance than in MF or RH books.
With that said I really did enjoy this book. After Nico's appearances in Made Marian series and getting more of his story his journey deserves his HEA.
