Publisher's summary

Why do Christians - even mature Christians - still sin so often? Why doesn't God set us free? We seem to notice more sin in our lives all the time, and we wonder if our progress is a constant disappointment to God. Where is the joy and peace we learn about in the Bible?

Speaking from her own struggles, Barbara Duguid turns to the writings of John Newton to teach us God's purpose for our failure and guilt-and to help us adjust our expectations of ourselves. Her empathetic, honest approach lifts our focus from our own performance back to the God who is bigger than our failures - and who uses them for his glory. Rediscover how God's extravagant grace makes the gospel once again feel like the good news it truly is!

So good, definitely read this book.

Such a beautiful picture of the gospel applied to our hearts. Duguid honesty and struggles are humbly shared. Her chapter questions are worth the cost of the book.

Essential Reading for Every Struggler!

Duguid bravely and biblically presents the pure distillate of the Gospel. The Gospel we all long to embrace. The Jesus who is often so complicated by well meaning pastors and churches is clearly and whinsomely portrayed for the real sinners we are. Whether we are primarily saturated and addicted to our self-righteous moralistic lifestyles or trapped in a never-ending barrage of selfish pursuits, fears, and self destruction, this Gospel is for us. Living in this Gospel paradigm brings true freedom, authentic love, real joy and unmoveable hope as we struggle in this present darkness.
