Story
Having a surfeit of super powers is great for battling bad guys and saving the world, as Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is finding out, but less useful in dealing with day-to-day situations - like bonding with his superhero father, adjusting to a team environment, and coping with what might be perceived as a growing rivalry between himself and another teen super. On top of all that, despite having a serious girlfriend, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to a new female super he's just met.

Publisher's Summary
Everyone needs help occasionally - even supers with amazing powers - and Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is no exception. Having previously received aid from a young psychic named Rudi, Jim feels obligated to return to the favor and rescue her from the federal facility where she's being held.
But breaking into a top-secret, heavily-fortified government installation is never a walk in the park, especially when said installation has top-of-the-line security systems, trigger-happy guards, and its own team of formidable supers. It will take a bold and audacious plan to get Jim - and the friends who volunteer to help him - inside.
Unfortunately, breaking in is only half the problem (and the easy half, at that); they also have to break back out...

Now that said I finished this book in one setting. It’s a good story while we wait for Kid to come back to earth. Their are a few references to this story throughout he other books and I am grateful for the chance to listen to this one. Despite the number of powers he has Kid just does not seem over powered.

Sensation, book 2.5
Whoot, we finally get to see the Kid keep a promise that he made a loooong time ago early on in the series. It was most satisfying to finally see this cometo fruition, it was one I had been hoping to see, and since I have run through the entire KS series this was an excellent cherry on the top. This recalls events that comes early on in the series, so you might not want to read in until after the first two books just to be safe. You can read it as a stand alone, it works quite well as that in fact, but if you want to dive into the whole series (something I very much suggest that you do) then you want to wait just a little while. Hardman really keeps this fast paced, as it is a short story, and lets you see the Kid do some real thinking and planning before he pulls his job. You have to remember that his powers standout, and if he uses them he will be recognized, and this is a very covert op. So, he basically has to figure out how to save someone without using all of his abilities so that he isn't recognized. This makes for a smart fast paced series of events that all occur on a specific timeline. Can the Kid keep his promise?
Hardman really has nailed down the way to write a superhero story, and he keeps turning in some winning storylines. He really needs to option this as a film, it would rock anything DC made, and give Marvel a run for its money. Master narrator Mikael Naramore is all in, as he has been with this series since the beginning, his professional skills are par excellence and need no more to be said other than his work is always top shelf. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Fun Short
4.45/5 Extraction by Kevin Hardman
Narrated by Mikael Naramore
Summary:
Jim, Electra, and Smokey are on a mission to free Rudi and her little brother.
Additional Comments:
- Short and sweet.
- Some of the Kid Sensation stories kind of meander to nowhere, but since this is a short story, it moves along rather nicely.
- It’s about a rescue mission yet there are some nice little Easter eggs for those who are invested in the series as a whole.
- I suppose you could jump in as a standalone, but it would make more sense as part of the larger Kid Sensation series.
Conclusion:
Worth checking out if you enjoy superhero short stories.

Important for continuity, spoilers inside.
Read this book only after you read book two, Mutation. This short story contains spoilers for book two including who lives and who dies.
Read this story before book three Incarceration. It contains information vital to series continuity. Well okay it isn't really anything that isn't actually summerized in book three, but reading it first would be more fun. take it from someone who didn't read this before book three.
Extraction is the story of Kid Sensation and company rescuing superpowered children from a government facility. it's fast, fun, and satisfying. in future I will pay more attention to series order so that I can enjoy the series flow better.
The Narrator, Mikael Naramore, does a great job as he has done on the previous series titles.

Great little Novella
Full disclosure: I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Extraction is an excellent little novella set in the Kid Sensation universe, featuring the main hero of the series. I enjoyed this book and the narrator did an excellent job adding to the experience.
It gives us a nice short story to tide us over between books 2 and 3, features some of our favorite characters - Jim, Electra, and Smokie. It is a good read, even if you read it after having read book 3.
Naramore is a great narrator and Hardman knows how to tell a great kids story.

An Action Packed Short Story
In this book, Kevin Hardman concludes a story that he introduced in a previous book (Mutation - Kid Sensation #2) which had yet to be resolved. This entertaining superhero story has plenty of action, enjoyable characters and an exciting plot. Mikael Naramore's narration does a terrific job of bringing the characters to life. I was provided a free review copy of this audio book and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Nice Kid Sensation short story!
A nice short story set in the Kid Sensation series. The plot follows Kid Sensation as he sets out to fulfill the promise he made to help rescue a psychic girl and her brother from evil supers. The story was action packed considering how short it was and the narration was excellent as usual with Mikael Naramore.

Great addition to this series.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I have listened to all of the books that are available on audio, it doesn't disappoint, for me it was a great addition to this series, and I think that the whole series would be enjoyable for anybody that enjoys superhero stories.
Narration wise I thought that it was done just as well as all the rest of the audiobooks that have been done.

A good story that could have been expanded upon
I'll be upfront; I enjoy the Kid Sensation novels. I'm a sucker for superheroes and while these books do have their issues they get a lot right. But that said, I can't help but feel let down by this story. But alas, let me delve into the good. Mild SPOILERS for book two of Kid Sensation but one of my biggest plot threads with that book was Rudi and how she'd saved Jim but with the promise he'd rescue her/ her brother. The story does a great job establishing Jim's desire to rescue her and having Smoky and Elektra along for the ride is great. These are a trio and seeing them bounce off of one another and their friendship were the big highlights. Also, the action was great especially Jim who, despite having multiple powers, Hardman does a great job putting for unique challenges.
Also, Mikael Naramore is fantastic with this audiobook. His voice is crisp and clear with excellent diction and voice-over work for each of the characters.
So overall, a solid story but what's my problem? It's too short. While I understand Hardman not wanting to bog down his second book, this story comes off as a corollary to that book as opposed to its own unique adventure. Perhaps, that's what he wanted, but I am letdown by how short it was. Maybe, it is because I read book three before this story, but I was expecting something a lot more detailed. And even after visiting this story, I really do think this could have been its own book. Let me restate; this book isn't bad. Far from it. But it left me wanting more. Overall, if you're a Kid Sensation fan, pick this up.
But I do think this story, while good, was wasted potential. Not bad. Just good.

Fun but too short
I enjoyed this book and it was nice to find out what happen to Rudi and her brother but it was so short you can't help but wonder why it wasn't included in the book where we first met Rudi instead of being a separate book. The story was fun and I think Kevin had a good idea for introducing a new and significant character but wish he had gone into more detail and made the story longer. The action scene was almost over before it began but if you are a fan of Kevin Hardman's Kid Sensation books then you will enjoy it, especially if you have a short journey or a few hours to kill.

Great Short Stort!
This is a great addition to the series and fills in the details on a side story that is alluded to, but not told, in the full length books. It also provides a hint to a "secret" that isn't revealed fully until the fourth book. If you love the Kid Sensation series, don't miss this one!

Fast Paced like our Superhero
He's back and our favourite superhero is out to make good on his promises.
This one is far too short but it's what we have come to expect if more condensed into such a short story.
