What if the only thing that could save humanity… wasn’t human at all?

Paleontologists say 99% of all species that have ever lived on Earth are now extinct. Extinction is natural—until it isn’t.
Paleontologists have declared we are living through the Sixth Mass Extinction, a human-triggered crisis unfolding not over millions of years, but within decades. From climate collapse and ecological ruin to the looming threat of nuclear war, the timeline to disaster is no longer hypothetical—it’s accelerating.

In this gripping and provocative novel, an advanced alien intelligence arrives—not to conquer or enslave—but to intervene. Their mission: to enforce the Galactic Endangered Species Protocol, a last-chance recovery plan for a species on the brink. Why us? Because humanity, for all its flaws, possesses a rare and remarkable trait—creativity. Art, music, storytelling, and imagination have made us worth saving.

But here’s the twist: under the protocol, the endangered species doesn’t get a vote.

Extinction explores a haunting question: What happens when humanity is no longer in charge of its own survival? Will we cooperate, rebel, or self-destruct?

Smart, urgent, and laced with hard science and speculative wonder, Extinction dares us to imagine a future where our biggest threat—and our greatest hope—comes from beyond the stars.

Listen to it before it becomes nonfiction.

I couldn't imagine a better narrator for this book! The story itself was interesting and highly procedural. Tries to be realistic but without enough setbacks for characters. I know some countries don't thrive right away but it could've used a bit more struggle IMO. I still enjoyed it and would listen to a sequel if there were ever to be one.

Sequel, please!

I guess it is the whole Skippy-dramatization. All power and everything pretty much (having a problem thinking of anything that didn’t) goes to plan. The author tries to be subtle with political bias but when everything climate changey is the right path and just a solid fact in the author’s narrative. There really isn’t much drama. The protagonist’s point of view carries any challenge, because of course it would. Always Muslim is bad (careful to say not all… but). All that said Ray Porter is amazing as usual. The story is a narrative and not really a drama and could be summarized in a greeting card.

Enjoyable but…

Very interesting take on first contact. Also very pointed observations about the current state of politics as well as suggesting a solution for the insanity on the World Wide Web. Very enjoyable, not a lot of car crashes or violent action, but the story moved along very well - overall really good! A recommended read.

Great story filled with hope for humanity

Ray Porter favorite audio book performer. Great hard science! A little repetitive in parts but overall a good story.

Skippy meets the Bobiverse.
