Useful book with frank overview on questions but horrible delivery

Author touches interesting topics and provides background on why certain foods are important or what happens to the body or topics on sex. But laughs at random places and is so dry in other times. To get to the end you must really power through with patience. It was not an easy listen

Not sure if the book is bad or just the narrator

The narrator was horrible. It sounded like she was laughing at odd points and possibly getting words wrong. If she didn’t miss any words than the author is telling women not to trust their bodies or talk to other women about the uncomfortable parts of pregnancy like hemorrhoids. There was some decent info but nothing you wont find any the many other pregnancy books.

Near impossible to understand or derive useful information

I tried to listen all the way through but could only stand to go half way. The reader is not at all familiar with the information and has never seen the book before. This results in confusing inflection as she’s reading and incorrect words all over the place. Saying things like “the woman should not be allowed to listen to her body” and “a baby with a blue eyed gene and a brown eyed gene will be born with brown hair.” The reading is pretty monotone and the reader is sounding out most of scientific terms as she reads (many of them incorrectly). I just could not understand what the author was trying to say at all and what I did understand was too vague to be helpful. Really disappointing.

Very Effective

Pregnancy absolutely needed this book and I recommend it to my patients all the time. The depth of study and ease of listening are both brilliant. Life is about risk and having all the information is key and this book does just that.

Like it!

I appreciate that the author takes an evidence-based approach to her decisions during her pregnancy. I really liked learning what studies all the pregnancy recommendations are based on and how few/little data is out there. I think listening this book helped me feel more confident knowing the risks. I didn't always agree with the author's decision for her own pregnancy, but I didn't feel like she tried to sway me too much either. I'd recommend this if you are pregnant!

Well written

Pregnancy is a very 'individual' event, and one of my biggest frustrations was all the blanket 'rules' that came without supporting data and the implication that there's 'one right way' to do things. I found this book SO helpful and calming because it gave me the accurate and factual data to make the best decisions for ME and MY pregnancy. And even with all the statistics, it's easy to listen and I really appreciated the author's humor.

Excellent ideas

This was the best book I listen while my friend was pregnant. I carried it around with me to Europe while I was 27 weeks pregnant to help me remember the research behind the choices I made.

Decent Book

The author uses modern studies and statistics, as well as her own experience, to discuss a mysterious process for most women: pregnancy and childbirth. More light does need to be shined on this subject, and all the myth around it.

Good Info

I loved the science based investigation she did. She relieved so many of my early worries and made some really great points about decision making. Now if only she could help me name this darn kid!

This isn’t the expected book

There is a book called Expecting better by Emily oyster - this book has the same title but isn’t it. I think audio need to look into this as the narrator and content have a lot of errors and I’m not sure if this is a knock off

NOT as expexted

This audiobook uses an extremely similar title to Emily Oster's popular and well researched book "Expecting Better". There is no connection. What's the point of using such a similar title to such a popular book other than to mislead buyers? Do not be confused and waste your money as I did - I was extremely disappointed from the outset with this product. AVOID.

Love this book

Love this book! As a women who never imagined even wanting to get pregnant, it's helping my husband and me get ready to conceive. I found this book while looking for What to Expect Your Child's First Year, which I wanted to read because I work with infants and its always nice to get more information from different places. Hopefully we'll be reading the next book sooner than later!

Excellent Tune

This book is excellent for giving facts-based advice! Too many books tell you WHAT without the WHY behind the recommendation. I found Clarita's experience analyzing economics data to be a perfect fit for analyzing the pregnancy studies that are out there. Love this book!

Best pregnancy book

This has been the best pregnancy book I’ve listen! It was factual and really was honest as to what the pros and cons are of everything.
There’s graphs and math that back everything up but it’s explained in terms you can understand. I highly recommend!
