Murderbot wasn't programmed to care. So its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right?

Love this series
Murderbot Diaries are hilarious and seriously one of the best series I've listened too. The performance was great and I can't wait to hear more from the Narrator. As for Martha Wells story, I loved it. She does a great job to create a story around the perfect reluctant antihero. I would recommend this for short road trips or just hanging around.

Hmmm
So this feels more like a summery of the first three stories then an addition to them. The first three books were fun, entertaining, suspenseful. I felt engaged the entire time. This was more like remember when/rehashing of the first three books etc. Maybe Wells is trying to give the short book series and end by recapping everything and bringing all the characters back together?
I found myself drifting off . Bored maybe.
The narrator is first rate and enjoyable. Really brings to life each character.
In a nut shell .. this just wasn't that great. Sorry, I really wanted it to be.

New favorite series! Best I've read in YEARS!!!
Murderbot is the BEST and my new favorite character in any book, or series! READ this series it is AWESOME! While I am sad there won't be any more books, (I mean who isn't when they reach the end of a great series?) honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. The ending is perfect the way it is. There's always rereading if I need my new favorite fictitious character to keep me company.
The performance is fantastic as well, I feel like the reader gives even more voice and perspective to Murderbot than I could have supplied in my own mind. I don't give a full five star review often but I would give this series 6 if I could. Excuse now me while I go re-read the entire series again, right now, because it's THAT GOOD!

Worth it if found on sale. This is a cut up series
This is not a novella. This is a single book that has been cut up into several parts. This book here is just the next chapters of the prior book as it immediately continues immediately after the events of the previous book.
I am not a fan of this type of business model of breaking up a book like this and disguising it as seperate novellas. Luckily I got the set of them all at a super discounted rate so at the discount it equals to a little above the price of a normal book.
This next part of the series isn't a complete book as it, again like I said previously, feels like the next chapters of the prior book. It's a continuation to what feels like the final chapters finally to a full novel and teases you to get book two. It's very action packed and starts putting the plot together again with the same character of book 1.
I liked this next part of this book. It was action packed, murderbot is still his amazingly quirky self and it's cool to see characters return and a plot coming together.
It still suffers from a frequent use of Deus Ex Machina plot devices though. Just like my complaint with the prior book, Murderbot has these hacking abilities that feel like they are just a umbrella system of Deus Ex tools to resolve plot easily and quickly. It feels highly improbable given the futuristic world this is and the unliklihood that a single system like murderbot just has so much access to hack just about every tech. Regardless of the how improbable this all is, it's entertaining if you use some suspension of disbelief to move past that.
It serves its purpose as easily consumable entertainment that you don't have to overthink. All the action makes this just mind numbing, unchallenging fun.

Murderbot Fan!
Let me add my voice to the myriad of Murderbot fans. I loved the story of this misanthropic AI who, finally on his own, struggled with eremitic desires vs a need to help/care for humans…a terrific metaphor for the struggle to contain and understand needs and drives at cross purposes in our lives, while using various crutches to escape the stress, just as he did with his entertainment downloads. Martha Wells’ superb writing, painted him in brilliant strokes of sardonic cleverness, wry humor, cynicism and the like, making it impossible to not like Murderbot. And, Kevin R. Free, kudos to you…what a perfect voice for Murderbot. Perfect! My only criticism is this: 4 credits was too expensive

Seems like a repeat
Enjoyed the first “book” in this series but by the end just felt like I was listening to the same story over and over. All “books” are very short and could easily be contained in 1 or 2 publications. Other Audible books provide a lot more value for the use of a credit and there isn’t really anything that interesting or compelling in the Murderbot universe.

Martha Wells hasn’t written a book I have not loved, & until last year, I didnt know her name. That’s criminal. What a mind & what range! Love this series.
And Kevin Free has the perfect tone & delivery for Murderbot/ Sec Unit Riin. What could easily be ruined, depending on a narrator’s delivery style is perfect in his hands.

Excellence!
I have only one gripe with this series: they are short!
The story - the intrigue, the mystery, the characters , the main character`s development, the pacing, the action ... all excellent.
Any metaphysical and philosophical musings and insights into the "human condition" are the icing on the top of a very tasty cake. Well, perhaps muffin is the better comparison since, as I say, these stories are a bit on the small side. But so packed with goodness that I do not begrudge the cost. Excellent entertainment value, though it leaves me wanting more at the end of every instalment.

Good to the very end
I am torn by these stories because although highly entertaining and enjoyable I feel the publishers should have released the Murderbot Diaries as one book and not dragged it out making it very expensive for what is basically a single novel, I had to use 4 Audible credits to purchase what is an average length audiobook, that being said the story itself was great and I hope the author writes more stories set in this universe

good ending
Story was great as expected, though as usual it was too short a story for the price, given he length and cost i'd really expect to be charged the same for all 4 as a bundle. If you do like murderbot I suspect you'll get it anyway. Narration was ok, nothing bad however nothing spectacular. I prefer more expression and depth of feeling in performance, I could have fallen asleep to the relaxed mellow performance.

Fantastic story, but steep price-tag.
The story in these novellas is great - action packed with believable characters, especially the protagonist.
HOWEVER, each novella has to be read sequentially and the only stand- alone story is the 1st of the 4 book series. The fact that each 3.5hr installment costs the same as a full length audio book therefore is hard to understand in any terms other than gratuitous price-gouging of readers/ listeners on the author's and/or publisher's part.

3 hours and 46 minutes of delicious goodness
“When I got back to HaveRatton station, a bunch of humans were trying to kill me. Considering how much I’d been thinking of killing a bunch of humans, it was only fair.”
Murderbot rocks. These novellas are worth every cent. It is quite amazing how an aesexual cyborg with a disdain of humans can be so relatable.
A joy to listen to.

Murderbot is possibly the cutest protagonist I've ever read about - the writing is as always fabulous and relatable.

How many times have I listened to this book?
I have no idea, because I just keep replaying this whole series, they are all so good. If you are hesitating, be assured this will be the best thing you ever listen too.

Best murderbot adventure since the first.
Very well done. More humorous. The murderbot continues to grow in me. The insight of feeds, scans and hacks is excellent.

Really fun sci-fi
My favourite part about sci-fi is when it takes an idea and follows it to a plausible if strange conclusion. What if there were androids created for security work, and they were treated as things, while giving them enough critical thinking ability to make that absurd. Then what if one of those started watching TV and became a person...

Great Inclusion in a Great Series
I love this series and Murderbot just grid as a character. He's not like every other action character and his idiosyncratic nature is his "charm".
This was a bit heavy on the hacking capabilities which started to get a bit boring, but otherwise a cracker of a read.
