What happens when you're stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course. Pagan Moore doesn't cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him. Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn't let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face.

Problem is, she knows he's dead. Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn't realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all. He is Death and he's about to break all the rules.

Reseñas editoriales

Pagan Moore is just having a regular day in her senior year of high school - chatting with her girlfriends at her locker, avoiding the undead "wandering souls" who have stalked her for years - when she encounters a strange boy with smoldering good looks. He is also dead and visible only to her, but unlike the other souls in her life, he can speak. In the first book of Abbi Glines's Existence trilogy, the young adult heroine finds herself torn between love and death. Ashley Litz performs the audiobook with the exaggerated dialogue and emotion befitting melodramatic teenagers - and paranormal romance.

I just needed a break from reality and this one was available so why not. It was difficult to listen to w the person reading the tale as she made screeching airheaded voices for most of the female characters. Literally had a headache.

Just needed something easy

Complete twilight plot. Love triangle 2 boys each supernatural, one special girl who they both love. One boy comes to her room at night and sings to her so she can sleep. ugh it was painful. Narrator's voice is too high pitched. ruins a few characters. Ok to listen to if there's nothing else.

Twilight rewrite

Love it. Read the book years ago and decided to find it on audible. No regrets. Good story!

I tried to give this book a chance. I feel so bad about ALL the negative reviews about the narration… but they’re just so true. Who listened to this and thought ‘Yeah, sounds great?’ The voices the narrator chose to use for some of the characters, especially Miranda and G, were so GRATING. It makes this an unbearable listen. I tried to power through and i just could NOT…
Not that the story was much better. Pagan’s whiny personality is just as unbearable as her best friend’s voice. I also think I’m way over the whole “guy is a creepy overbearing stalker and the girl falls in love instead of running away screaming for their safety” trope.

The narration….

The female lead has NO moral compass and is extremely easy to sway in her loyalties. The writing was VERY reminiscent of the late 90’s early 2000’s, which could have been the intention. If so, great job. If not… well. She used the phrase “ scared the bjesus out of me” 10 too many times. She over described things that didn’t need description.
The plot was kind of predictable and the character’s identities were VERY predictable. I figured out who Dank was after his 2nd appearance.

The voice acting was great, but narration was a little clumsy. The voice actor did a wonderful job distinguishing character voices and reading with enthusiasm. My only complaint there is that she got stuck with heavier accents when she needed to switch back to her narrator voice.

It’s SO cheesy
