Hughes Farm was the largest racing-horse establishment in the South. The family that owned it was known to be wealthy, powerful, arrogant, and terrifying. My first encounter with them didn’t prepare me for all that was to come. I don’t think anything truly could have. Growing up with only my father and brother hadn’t been easy, but we’d had each other. Losing them was the hardest thing I’d ever faced. It had made the times we went without food, electricity, or even shelter seem insignificant in comparison.

Sweet high school romance

Cute Story
I liked it! It was sweet, touching, heartbreaking and gave me all the feels.. I liked the female narrator but only for female narration. Her male narration needs work. Sebastian York NEVER disappoints

Adore The Story, and Sebastian York but
I adore this story. I’ve loved Maggie and West since I was in highschool and decided to buy the audio book to listen to it while at work, but I wish I hadn’t.
The female narrator ruined this for me. It will be a long time before I can read the book and not hear her voice in my head. If you are thinking of reading this, I 100% recommended, but don’t listen to the audio book.
Sebastian York is always a favorite though. He made it bearable.

Best bad-boy-turned-good YA romance story EVER!
I've read 4 of the 5 Field Party novel series, but the West-Maggie romance is by far the best written and original storyline dealing with codependency and true love. A must read for hopeless romantics of all ages!
Olivia Song and Sebastian York were the perfect narrators for the sweet-but-broken heroine and rugged alpha male hero.

Painfully beautiful!
This is a beautiful story of friendship and young love. Two young adults who are way too familiar with death and loss. They support each other in what may be an unhealthy way but is truly beautiful.
This story will break your heart many times over and put a smile on your face as you see the resilience of youth, hope and love.

Wow
Loved the romance between West and Maggie. Didn’t exactly enjoy how cocky West was especially to someone like Maggie who just lost her mother and he just judged a boob by its cover. But overall it was a pretty great story and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

Lots of introspection
This is a romance between high school students who are dealing with serious, very adult problems. Although the main characters are having difficulty dealing with their individual issues, the romance itself has little conflict. The story moves slowly with lots of introspection. There are no explicit sex scenes but there are references to lots of sexual activity among students. The characters seem older than their years, making it seem that the teen-agers are finding their one true love while still in high school. The story held my interest, although I wanted it to move along at times. A few loose ends lead me to believe there will be other books in the series.
