Eric Stoner, executive officer of the Terran Republic Navy battle cruiser Tobruk, is suddenly reassigned to the Reserve Fleet, in order to make room for the promotion of a genetically enhanced officer, he suspects that something is wrong. He quickly discovers that Homo sapiens is in danger of being replaced by Homo superior, a stronger, more intelligent and more aggressive version of Humanity. The Enhanced Humans are still outnumbered by Sapiens, but they’re very intelligent, and they’re just about ready to take over complete control of the Navy.

Only one problem... I want more!

This is a fun and thoughtful sci-fi. In a short edition, Dietmar Wehr rises to the challenge of giving life to a universe, a cast, and events of epic consequence to human civilization. Mark Boyett lends his always-outstanding narration talent to make it truly enjoyable.

It was short, so I wanted much more. More character background, more historical backdrop, and, of course, more about what happens next. Hopefully subsequent releases will bring all of those! :-)

Hopefully the beginning of something great!

While this is a very short listen for a military sci-fi, it is still a great one. Being so short, the characters weren't really fleshed out but the universe is a very interesting one. One of the very few books that I have finished in a single listen -- not just because of the short length but also because it was so engaging. The addition of one of the best narrators for science fiction gave this book a little more character as well, Hopefully this is a just a preview with more of this universe to come!

New Series Intro

Short novel to introduce a new series based on conflict between humans & genetically modified aka advanced humans with some aliens and lots of space battles.
Only complaint is it's too short to give the character development normally seen in this author's work (thus the 4 instead of 5 stars for story).
Hoping the next book in the series will be a minimum of 8 hrs, preferably 11-14 - so it doesn't end too fast.
If you haven't read this author yet, suggest starting with The Synchronicity Wars, his most popular series. And then keep going!
I've bought all of his books except 2 I plan to get soon & 2 I received as a promotional gift from the author as a result of joining his email list (including this one). I think that's pretty darn nice! He even wrote back to me with a personal note, even nicer.
Mark Boyett does a good job with the narration. (So glad it wasn't Jeffery Kafer)
Listened to the book in 2 nights.
it's a quick light read, will be interesting to see how it gets developed and where it goes.

Started out good

Overall the story is good, however the ending was really lame. Mark did a fantastic job as always!

Great listen

big fan of the author, I received this book as a giveaway. I originally started (maybe 5 mins) and the premise didn't seem to interest me as his other books did so I stopped and listened to others. This wekk I finally gave it a fair chance and found it to be just as good as his other books. Only complaint is that it went to quick.

Space Eugenics

Evolution Wars is a great military sci-fi with an interesting story. It examines issues with eugenics and human evolution as it presents a scenario where Homo Sapiens have become displaced and oppressed by their a generically engineered subrace of superior humans. The resulting conflict certainly raises questions about the wisdom of altering our own generic code and exactly what or who qualifies to represent "humanity" in a future where genetically superior humans exist. If you are a fan of action-oriented military sci-fi with interesting plots and characters, this is the perfect book for you.

Special thanks to Dietmar Wehr, who gave me this book as part of his mailing list promotion. If you like his work, I strongly suggest finding Wehr's website and joining his mailing list where you can find his latest updates, promotions, and occasionally free books!

A nice military sci-fi entry story.

I just love military sci-fi, especially when narrated by Mark Boyett. I received this audio book for free and have finished it. In return I will try give a honest impression. I enjoyed the story and would gladly purchase the next book in the series. That being said it was a little light on detail, but I was also surprised a few times which was nice.

If you enjoy military sci-fi I would recommend this audio book.

----There was one oversight, spoiler ahead:----
Dreadnought's would have point defence cannons.

Engageing, interesting and Germaine.

I love SciFi for the way social commentary can be explored. In the case of the "Evolution Wars," a really important question is brought up, and consequences are explored. As usual, Mr. Wehr writes extremely well. This is probably a PG-13 book, but what little vulgarity is in the book seems to be relevant to the story. Not sure what direction the story will take, so I hope the sequels come out soon.

Compelling and fun

I was reeled right in to this book. Good military sci-fi performed by a wonderful narrator. Evolution Wars examins a fascinating topic. I only wish it had been longer to allow for more development. But I am captivated and eagerly awaiting future installments.
