Publisher's summary

Sergeant Riot was protecting the world from an alien invasion one minute, only to wake up in a mental institution the next.

She isn’t sure what’s going on, but she’s going to crack skulls until she gets to the bottom of it. Most of the patients at the institute are what one might expect from this sort of facility: some are manic, some are weird, and some are full of drool. The wardens are strict, but they’re not used to handling the caliber of crazy that Riot brings to the table.

Great Teaser

Wow this sounds like a good series to start. I am a new fan of Christina narrations. Don’t miss Julie garwoods Mercy.
Unfortunately Sci Fi isn’t my genre.

Loved it!

Rooted for Riot all the way. No scarier place for the sane to be incarcerated.

Sgt. Riot on a Sarah Connor loop - teaser gold!

Audible has been on a tear, having authors go back and write teaser novellas for Audible Plus. Part of this is to fill Audible’s freebie library, but part of this is also to give listeners a chance to try on a series without burning a credit. This one succeeded fantastically with me.

Short, fun, action-packed, and with a kick-@ss Sgt. Riot, a female space-marine taking it to invading aliens... or is she?! Who knew mental health hospitals could be fun? Come for the Sgt Riot introduction, stay for the green jello.

On this Book 0 novella’s summary page, the series link to War Wolves goes to as-yet-unpublished books, but if you click on either author’s names, those links will take you to their 2018 book War Wolves. I have wish-listed it and will give it a try, thanks to this teaser.

Nov 2023 update: listened to War Wolves: it’s basically three 6 hr episodes where Riot and her team save the day on three alien planets, picking up tech and new teammates along the way. It ended up being rather cliche and very simplistic, but if you want to hear a ton of rah-rah military catch phrases (c’mon you apes, do you want to live forever?), it’s okay for a matinee listen.

Not a fan of this plot device

This is the second book this week that has been based on the hallucinations of the main character with the book just ending as the hallucinations continue. At least this was an included title that I did not waste money on. I’m definitely not a fan of this plot device.

A shot story without enough to make it interesting

A story without enough detail to have a beginning or end. With not already knowing the story line or characters is is a snippet that makes no real sense and doesn’t entice my interest.
