Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Eric is read by Colin Morgan (Merlin; Testament of Youth; Belfast). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

Eric is the Discworld's only demonology hacker. Pity he's not very good at it.

All he wants is his three wishes granted. Nothing fancy—to be immortal, rule the world, have the most beautiful woman in the world fall madly in love with him, the usual stuff.

But instead of a tractable demon, he calls up Rincewind, probably the most incompetent wizard in the universe, and the extremely intractable and hostile form of travel accessory known as the Luggage.

With them on his side, Eric's in for a ride through space and time that is bound to make him wish (quite fervently) again—this time that he'd never been born.

Eric is the fourth book in the Wizards series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. The first book in the Discworld series—The Colour of Magic—was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this

Re-enthused

So great to hear the voices of Rinswind and Death from the 1st books again.
The story is short but entertaining and funny and brilliantly performed, doing Pratchett's work the justice it deserves .

Another fun read!

This was a more basic plot and was easy to breeze through, but I'm so glad the book is a return to Rincewind after the Dark Dimensions. This book is a good setup for more Discworld. As always, it was a fun read.

Welcome back Rincewind

keeps Rincewind’s arch alive, with a solid launch for more stand alone novels in the Discworld Verse.

Great production

Great book and production. It is just a bit expensive for such a short book.

Brilliant, as expected!

Colin Morgan is as brilliant as always, as are Bill Nighy and Peter Serafinowicz. The casting was superb for the Rincewind series. The quality of these new recordings is consistently impressive, and Pratchett's writing is as magnificent as ever, so you know you're guaranteed to enjoy this book.

Excellent performance

All good! Hate having to write reviews though. Want to start listening to the next book. Love Colin’s accent.

Dense

it's the shortest discworld book I've listened to but is so full of story, it seems like days.

Wows

Colin Morgan is one of the best book actors I've ever heard. He hops from his natural burr to each one of the characters with breathtaking skill, liveliness, and precision -- and he makes it sound effortless. He's absolutely amazing.

I've always thought "Eric" was an outstanding romp. It's even better in this version. Enjoy!

mid to low range goodkind

good story not one of the greats. easy to forget your listening and remember your doing the dishes. As normal the voice actors of the story pick up the slack when that happens.

An Average Man's Thoughts

Eric is quick and fun. Rincewind returns, new characters with interesting personalities are introduced, and the concept of three wishes is explored in a fun way with unique twists as to how they are ruined. This is much shorter than other works in the series and even feels a bit out of place with its pacing a feel in comparison with the other works. it felt like a nice break in between feature length films with an an animated short. I liked it, and it felt like a nice breath of fresh air for the series. I can however see why it isn't one of the first you hear about when people talk about discworld as I don't think that's its role.
