Publisher's Summary

Paul’s third missionary journey was his most successful, by far. Paul spends A.D. 54-57 in Ephesus, a dazzling deep-water port city on the west coast of Asian Minor. A very wealthy city and the home of the Temple of Diana (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world), Ephesus could boast a population of 250,000, a fabulous theater seating 25,000, marble streets (with street lighting at night - one of only three such cities in the Roman Empire), and a deep and abiding love of literature, theater, and culture. Paul is a sophisticated urban creature, and he is very much at home in Ephesus. By the end of his nearly three-year stay, Paul can rightly claim that “all of Asia Minor had heard the gospel” as a result of his efforts in Ephesus.

Ephesians is one of three epistles and one letter that Paul writes while in Rome, A.D. 60-62 (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon). Often incorrectly referred to as one of Paul’s “prison epistles” (he was not in prison in Rome in A.D. 60-62; he was living in his own rented house, free to come and go as he pleased), Ephesians is a brilliant exposition of Paul’s thesis that we are “saved by grace through faith”. It is also a glittering display of Paul’s rhetorical fireworks. Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy examines this extraordinary epistle in detail.

Good Nuggets of our role in the body of Christ

There are some very good nuggets into our role within the family of God listed in Ephesians. I particularly like Creasy's less oppressive views of wife and women. Reminding us that our fight is not with flesh & blood but with darkness is very poignant...along with God's armor. (personal thought: all humanity needs to stop blaming and fighting each other)

Learn the Bible From Different Perspectives

Dr. Creasy teaches the Bible from both a literary and historical perspective. Understanding the historical context and complex literary devices used by the writers makes this a rich learning experience. If you want a deep understanding of God's word, I highly recommend any of Dr. Creasy's Audible classes.

Fantastic series of lectures!

This is another great lecture series from Dr. Bill Creasy. He is always incredibly insightful and engaging. He often supplements the material with personal stories which are relevant and interesting. He has taken several trips to Israel and the Middle East where he visits the locations depicted in the Bible and he shares those first hand accounts which enables him to take you back to that point in time that the scripture is talking about.

Just seemed to me to be ...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Kind of shallow and repetitive. Unlike a book (this is a lecture) this does not seem to be well prepared and scripted. Sorry. Just not enough meat.

The Armor of God

Dr. Creasy puts it all in perspective. His commentary is provocative and brings the past into the present day.

Thank you

Thank you for that illuminating teaching on the subject of relationships. Namely that there was no "submit" in the original Greek writing. Please listen to this teaching for a fuller explanation of this area.
