The book is one very long introduction to the reasons that EQ and interpersonal skills are important. It keeps promising that your life will improve with the skill set but it never gives any practical or step-by-step directives or exercises in creating the skill set

A lot of fun points. Such as, people continually stuff their heads with worthless data (news addiction), and the myth of the importance of the rational mind. Definitely some new ways of looking at the world. Learning about submodalities was also very useful, and acquainting emotions I am very sure of with visualizations.

A 9-hour commercial
This book is written like a big commercial: "When you learn emotional intelligence you will ..." It never gets into how to actually improve your skills in this area. It drove me crazy to listen to it. The author may understand emotional intelligence, but the book does a terrible job teaching it.

Great read and is on my list to read again. It has a lot of the same information that I have accumulated from other sources and in life, however, it connected several of the dots and provided some valuable exercises. This is a good reference to have around when you find yourself less than excited about life and the people you share it with.

This is a great book that I enjoyed to read.

Excellent. 7 books with only mild overlap
This was much better than expected. There are 7 books which only have a little bit of overlap. The best was about retraining your thoughts to see the positive in every scenario, even if it was actually mostly bad. I'll be using those tips everyday! OK to listen at 2x speed, not too chipmunkey!

I honestly thought about this book I was going to find a lot of scientifically based advice on how to behave in situations where my emotions go out of control but found myself listen to a book that though informative meets my expectations in terms of utility for my personal life.
