Story
It is the tenth anniversary since the first publication of Daniel Goleman's groundbreaking bestseller, Emotional Intelligence, which maps the territory where IQ meets EQ, where we apply what we know to how we live. Spending over a year on the New York Times bestseller list, Emotional Intelligence provided the evidence for what many successful people already knew: being smart isn't just a matter of mastering facts; it's a matter of mastering your own emotions and understanding the emotions of the people around you.

Story
In this classic best seller, Florence Scovel Shinn helped to define the personal success genre. Written in the new thought tradition, her message is simple yet transformative - we receive back what we put into the world through our actions, energy, and attitudes. Negativity and pessimism are returned in kind, but by switching the script in favor of positive attitudes and affirmations, we are able to manifest success and joy in everything we do. Life, Shinn tells us, is not a battle of us against the world, but rather a game of giving and receiving.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Publisher's summary
Why are so many people with high IQs and excellent academic achievements unsuccessful in life?
Why do some people build social relationships with ease while others seem incapable of doing so?
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where anxiety and fear overwhelm you to the point that you freeze up or are unable to make the right decision?
The secret? EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE!
In today's society, it is believed that a person with great academic achievements and a high IQ has it easy and will certainly be successful in life. But in many cases, getting good grades in college or having a high IQ is not strictly linked to success.
It seems strange but it’s the reality of things.
In fact, the vast majority of successful people didn’t do so well in school.
EI is a type of intelligence that very few know and consider but it is one of the most important for our well-being.
With the methods explained in the book, you will be able to develop this type of intelligence, thus changing your life! You will finally understand how to relate to others in the best way possible by always making the wisest decisions in every area of your life without letting negative emotions take over.

In richly anecdotal detail, Goleman brings to life the field of social neuroscience that has emerged in the decade since the publication of Emotional Intelligence. He shows that, far more than we are consciously aware, our daily encounters with parents, spouses, bosses, and even strangers shape our brains and affect cells throughout our bodies. Our relationships create a setpoint for our daily moods and influence our immune response; they are crucial to achievement in students and workers; they determine whether or not some genes are expressed, for good or ill.

When a close family member was stuck in a similar messy situation, this book turned out to be a real game-changer. It's all about spotting the red flags and giving a boost to the person who's caught up in the thick of it all. Man, I just wish I had snagged this book a year ago when the drama was in full swing, not after everything had already gone down.
