entertaining murder mystery

this was a very entertaining murder mystery book. It had an interesting turn of events. It was not a predictable ending. I'm uncertain about how I feel about the ending but it was an overall good book

Great ghost story!

If you are looking for a good, suspenseful ghost story this is one for you! I loved it. And this narrator's voice just amped it up. He told the story perfectly and I was hooked from the beginning. This author knows what a good haunting story is. Tom's grandfather's country home always had secrets. The family seemed to keep them. Tom ends up staying on the property. He starts to see a ghost of girl. Slowly he starts to unravel the truth and it shocks him. I know I was shocked as each piece as it was all revealed. I was on the edge of my seat as I tried to solve the mystery along side Tom. This story proves secrets don't always stay buried. A must read for ghost story and haunting story fans!

Lovely ghost story, disappointing narration

Emily’s evil ghost is a well written, short ghost story that includes the development of relationships within a family and love throughout the story.

I keep thinking of campfire ghost stories when it comes to characterizing the story and writing.

The narration didn’t do it for me at all, unfortunately, and detracted from the writing.
The base tone has a little bit of urgency in it, but no variation outside of that. It lacks expressiveness due to the absence of variation in even just the pace (with the exception of some oddly placed pauses). Each sentence has pretty much the same sing-songy melody that makes it easy to get distracted.

That said - the story was still strong enough to look past it and genuinely enjoy :)

Emily's Evil Ghost

I thoughly enjoyed this book! The story was interesting, intriguing, fast paced, and well written. This was my first book by Geoffrey Sleight and I will look for more by him. The narrator did a great job. Howard J. Davey has a lovely voice.

Creepy!

This story just creeped me out completely! Emily was just pure evil... the callousness of her actions. I truly felt sorry for her brother. If you want to get goosebumps reading alone.. this will do it!

Didn't want it to end

For me, the beginning was a little bit drawn out, but the author more than makes up for it once the "meat and potatoes" is served up! From there I was locked in and loving every moment. I found it suspenseful, suspicious of who all was real - who else were ghosts? I enjoyed the love story that was taking place amidst the daring creation of an evil child. Very enjoyable, both in writing and narration!

Wow!What a story! A ghost appears to a boy, then again when he is a man. This is at his grandfathers home. When his Grandfather is taken ill and is comatose, ghosts inhabit the house to tell the familys evil secrets Maybe he should not have asked to know what happened in the past. Howard J. Davey was a very good narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Interesting short ghost story

This is a short (just under 2 1/2 hours) but interesting ghost story. Tom goes to visit his grandfather and begins to see the ghost of a not very nice young girl. During these apparitions he learns about the dark history of his family.

Although this is a short story it packs in plenty of action. It is set just after WW2 and is very evocative of the time. It is a well written, classic ghost story and although it's not particularly scary, I did have goosebumps at times whilst listening.

The narration by Howard J Davey brought the book to life.

Classic styled ghost story

I really enjoyed this book, the narrator gave perfect performance, drawing us into the story slowly and steadily, giving just the right amount of uncertainty and creepyness to the unfolding events to make it impossible to stop listening.

Although this is a very modern book it has the brilliant feel of a true classic ghost story, not just in the setting of the story but in the way it is framed and presented to us and the characters within it.

Wow!

That was a great short story! Usually short stories aren't my thing, but this one (and other Geoffrey Sleight books) definitely were wonderful to listen to! Howard does a fantastic job as well!
