Publisher's summary

Farrendel would do anything to keep from killing again...even marry a human princess.

Farrendel Laesornysh, the younger elf prince of Tarenhiel, has become the elves' foremost warrior, thanks to his deadly magic. He is no stranger to death. But when the humans propose a marriage alliance during a diplomatic meeting, he is desperate enough to avoid more killing to agree. Even if an elf should never trust a human bargain.

The human princess is probably a spy. Or an assassin sent to kill him on his wedding night. Yet if he can make this marriage work, as his grandmother seems to think, it might be the first breath of hope Farrendel has had in over a decade.

Elf Prince gives Farrendel's perspective on the events of Fierce Heart (Book 1).

Love this series!

Remaking a series from a different perspective is fantastic. It's one of my favorite literary techniques. Thanks Tara! Keep em coming. I've read through everything I can find of yours on Amazon. All of your novels are fantastic! Wholesome, funny and romantic.

so fun!

So fun! I loved seeing this side of book 1 from Farrendel's perspective. I listened to it on audiobook. The narrator has a nice, easy voice to listen to and this was the perfect book to listen to doing just about anything. Elven Alliance has become my comfort read bc they're guaranteed to be clean with just the right amount of light humor and action.

Such a good book

It was great and Liz Brand does a good job reading it. Really enjoyed seeing things from Farrendel's point of view.

I gave this book a high rating but...

I gave this book a high rating but it is more for readers who just want to read anything that is related to the story. It would have been better if it was added on to a previous book instead of a separate purchase. If I did not read this book I would not feel like I missed anything important to the story (series).

Followed Elf Prince From the Start

I loved getting to hear the other view point through this story. During the first novel I was so curious to know what Farrendel was thinking. It was cute to see him so socially awkward and nervous instead of this mysterious overly serious elf. I loved reading bits back when it was a freebie, the whole book was such a treat. I do think the narrator for this book should have been a male. Liz is phenomenal with Elven Alliance and has nailed down a unique voice for all the characters, but I was looking forward to a swoony voice to pair with Farrendel's thoughts. It just seemed like a missed opportunity.

Great book from Farrendel’s perspective

I’ve loved listening to Elf Prince. It is wonderful to have Ferrendel’s perspective of the events from Fierce Heart. I love the world building and the story.

I loved how the narrator uses voices to differentiate between thoughts and spoken dialogue from the characters. That’s sometimes difficult to catch, but she did a great job so you’re never wondering if it was a thought or spoken words.

Excellent companion story to know Farrendale

loved it. In all honesty I was given a free copy and I thoroughly enjoyed this companion story as part of the Elven Alliance.
The narrator is an amazing voice artist. She does very different tones/voices for the different characters in such a smooth and natural sounding manner.

AMAZING!!

Full disclosure: I've read Elf Prince before, (as in as soon as it released on Kindle) and loved the book. This story follows the journey of Fierce Heart from Farrendel's point of view. Although some scenes overlap, their is enough new scenes in addition to the new perspective that it didn't feel redundant to me. I do not know the author or narrator. I just really like Tara Grayce books.

PARENTS GUIDE: There was nothing in this audiobook that made me sheepish of my elementary aged children listening in while I made dinner. no swearing. no intimacy beyond mild kisses. Warriors and War (fighting& death) non glorified violence. A character has anxiety and PTSD.

I was "just" going to listen to it while in the car but then I started listening. Suddenly I'm in the mood to do dishes and organize that postponed project too. my productivity while listening was two thumbs up great. The story is phenomenal and the voice actor nailed making different voices so you can tell who is speaking even before the text identifies them. a particularly awesome feature if you have the entire audiobook collection and you know the other characters.

OVERALL: if you enjoyed Fierce Heart I think you'll really enjoy this book too!

Enjoyable if you already read the series

This is an enjoyable story if you've already completed the series. It doesn't have the cohesiveness or originality of the main books in the series--it's quite literally just his POV. So, it reads a little like fan fiction, and at times feels redundant. By the end of the book we mostly just know how deeply scarred by the fighting he is (pretty clear in the original and in further books with dual POV) and how deeply Mr. Darcy he is (seriously socially awkward? Just say nothing and scowl. Totally brings the girls to the yard).

But if you have read the series and want more Farendell, this does offer some original scenes including his thoughts while he's away fighting, and stuff he did while Essie was shopping for shampoo. For these reasons, I liked it.

It really, really should have been a male narrator. I've had issues with the pace this narrator sets from the beginning. In some books, she manages to just make Essie sound young and chirpy. In others, she speeds up and chatty becomes manic. This was one of those. I dropped the speed significantly.

Overall, I'm not sorry I got it, but you absolutely should not listen to this until you're past the first three books and have gotten to know Farendell in those first. The first book is the only one told entirely from Essie's POV, thus this look back.
