In the realm of Eon, strength is the rule of law.

In daylight, the realm is ruled by the adepts, a group of mighty cultivators that use their spirits to wield world-bending, mystic power. These adepts live in constant strife, fighting for control of relics that hold the divine powers of ancient gods.

In twilight, the realm belongs to the darkbeasts, nightmarish creatures born of a mysterious fog known as the veil.

These creatures are drawn to power, hoarding relics in their dungeons and slaying any adepts that dare venture too close.

Together, these opposing forces create a grim balance of power, one only survived by those with strength, cunning and a bit of wit.

But balance is not easily maintained....

Dark forces work from the shadows, putting events into motion that will drive the realm into chaos. Soon, portals begin to open, drawing warriors from other realms to test their mettle on Eon’s battlegrounds.

Many perish before reaching their true potential, falling victim to the realm’s many perils.

However, the cosmos is a vast sea of souls, and one police officer from earth may prove he has the fighting spirit needed to shake Eon to its very core....

The author had great setting and characters but didn’t take much time for improvement i.e skill grinding power development or world exploration. It made the book feel like an all out sprint to the finish. I would have liked for the narrative to slow down and go into the detail on the world and how the MC fit and how his powers fit

I’m going to buy the next one but

This first book laid the groundwork for the world and future books rather well. There were a few time that I thought his HUD explained something rather well but “the officer” didn’t capitalize on or chose to wait before acting. This didn’t happen often but in the few instances it did it seemed very contradictory to the character’s usual behavior.

While the story used “the officer” to refer to the MC often I found that I was getting used to the use before the end of the book. I wish they used his name but this isn’t a big problem.

In conclusion I would give this book somewhere around the 4.6 range, I will be getting the second book when ever it comes out.

Good but short

I think it is an interesting world. Bits and pieces that seem really cool, although it's not really forming a cohesive whole for me.

I think our protagonist is written weakly. I would expect a cop to be a little more cautious, especially this one when his lack of it literally just got him killed and sent to this world. He seems determined to get himself finished for good. I could even accept him being a moron, because some people just are, except for the fights he is constantly getting into against opponents that outclass him by so much ... yet he manages to come out mostly unscathed. He survives and overcomes without valid reasoning why.

The Narrator is fantastic. He manages to give the characters a lot of personality and depth with his reading of them.

I am interested to see where it goes, but its not the greatest thing so far.

Impressive Narration

This was an exciting LitRPG story about a police officer ending up on a world of sword, sorcery, assassins, and airships (which, sadly, only appeared to save the day at the last minute). The good guys were snarky, and the bad guys were pompous, just the kind I love to love and hate, respectively. I enjoyed the story immensely and the narration was pretty good. I’d like to know what happens next.

Good cop turns vigilante in a lawless world

I really enjoyed this story overall as it was a nice western rendition of chinese based stories. The character is pretty relatable but I did feel he needed more depth into the fact he lost his daughter and wife. The fights were well told to the point I could really visualize them. Narration is great and I will be looking for more of their work.
