Makes you think

This book which was written in 2014 had many things said that fit strangely into today’s times.
Several of the reference to detail are things we see today. Kind of like this guy had insight to government plans to handle such an event.
Long but worth the listen.

Decent listen

Credit to the narrator . He did what must be a difficult job quite well.
This is the second “pandemic” oriented book I’ve listened to by this author . His characters are well developed . The storyline is extremely interesting to me because I have a background in public health . I’ve also worked in or near a lot of the areas of the world mentioned in the story .
His research into epidemiology and virology is impressive . I strongly appreciate the fact that he doesn’t “dumb down “ the vocab .
I do have some qualms that illustrate issues current to today . I won’t soon forget “Mitch’s” alluding to his mercenaries as being foreboding , or some other scary characteristic , because they were big , heavily armed , black men . White men with AK’s don’t frighten me at all. To those who may miss this teaching moment , that allusion is “white privilege”. Another problem for me is “Joe”. He’s an apparent closet prepper. As his paranoia grows , and his character develops , he becomes extremely irritating to me . He has no information on a 20 y o son he sent to Africa for a summer study . And his lack of info or contact is stupefying . He seems to only become concerned about his son when his own self preservation is challenged . At each juncture he could possibly redeem himself when asked by his wife , daughter , or anyone about the whereabouts or the last time he had contact with his son , he comes up hopelessly short . The notion that somehow this sort of person is going to be saved and rehab the after effects of a devastated America are not my idea of the best this country has to offer . And in my rant/rating , the last annoyance I have has to do with more ignorance . I truly hope that the author doesn’t think that those who voted for President Obama don’t take advantage of their second amendment rights . The difference between those aforementioned and the other people presumed to all be bearing Uzi’s is intelligence and temperance .

Now we know how much this story got right

Excellent narrator. Kept my interest throughout, unlike many in this genre. My only complaint is that the airborne form of Ebola in the story kills too fast to spread and kill such huge percentages of the population. Part of why many people aren't taking COVID-19 seriously is because stories like this lead people to believe if it was serious they would be seeing dead bodies all over the place. The problem with that is what we are experiencing now; pretend the problem doesn't exist and things just might get that bad especially in the winter.

What a fun ride!

I honestly wasn't sure if listening to a series about a global pandemic during a global pandemic was such a good idea. So glad I didn't let that stop me. Though it didn't really convey the grinding minutiae we are now familiar with, it did delve into the profiteering and desperate struggle to maintain the sense of normal. I was slightly disappointed when the author didn't use the opportunity to include wildlife and scavengers in the struggles portrayed in Africa. However, the story was incredibly engaging, the characters were easily people we know, and a thrill ride with grit. Great story telling and narration. So glad I took the ride and you will be as well!

Need a thriller to make the Plandemic seem stupid?

I really enjoyed this. I'm sure Mr Adair succeeded in creating a tense and interesting adventure for us. also brought up some issues that readers in 2020 can totally relate to. I liked the characters and their moral issues. I think the characters were very well rounded. I also learned a lot about Africa, which was cool. highly recommended.

The end doesn't feel/read like the end.

I like it quite a lot, but it was confusing at the end. Nice concept.

Dick Van Dyke

Good story (barring anachronistic references to London fog) marred slightly by the narrator's choice to channel Dick Van Duke instead of a South Asian London accent near the beginning.

Ebola K

Great book but I’m taking a star off because of the narration, if you thought that Dick Van Dyke cockney accent was bad you haven’t heard anything yet, the story tho is solid and quite frightening considering we’re in a pandemic here, would recommend

Awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed

As a biologist 20 years ago we were all terrified of Ebola switching to airborne transmission so I was fascinated by this book and BOBBY ADAIR did a brilliant job. Great characters, great twists and thoroughly well researched and realistic plausible plotting.
The narration was excellent and easy to listen to. The reviews here are not fair of the narrator. Given the range of accents in the book he does a fantastic job. There’s only one tricky voice on a very low key character otherwise it’s all superb and I really highly recommend this as superb dystopian future fiction.

Exciting page turner

Exciting story. Very well written and fast paced. The narrator really made me laugh out loud with his take on a British accent. The book is worth listening to if only for its hilarity. Seriously though, the book it great and well worth listening to. I don’t normal find terrorism type books or film to my liking and normally find them quite boring and predictable, but not so with this book which really keeps your attention with characters that you can care about. It is of course a story, so the listener must be willing to suspend disbelief at times. I love how the book takes the listener to different parts of the world as characters actions and stories unfold. Very enjoyable and exciting and I recommend this book.

Amazing until the last few chapters

I loved it the entire way though. The story and characters drew me in from the start.

Until the final few chapters. The pacing of the book was thrown out the window and everything was finished and done within a few chapters. definitely could have done with being a little longer. If done right could have potentially had another book out of it.

But definitely still worth a listen/read
