EASTER EGG MURDER by LESLIE MEIER

In Provence to visit her daughter, part-time reporter Lucy Stone is soaking up the atmosphere, even if it includes one Carole Capobianco, the empty-nester she encountered on the flight over. They're both amused by the tale of a neighbor's chickens refusing to lay eggs. The decoy eggs he's set out are not only gorgeously Faberge-style, they're being stolen!

DEATH BY ANOTHER EASTER EGG by LEE HOLLIS

When an ambitious young reporter dies mid-meal at Hayley Powell's Bar Harbor restaurant, Hayley is horrified. Determined to save her eatery's reputation, Hayley scrambles to crack the case wide open like an egg, discovering that the victim was about to break a juicy story—one that a number of people (er, suspects) did not order off the menu.

AN EGGY WAY TO DIE by PEGGY EHRHART

Cleaning up after the Easter egg hunt in the Arborville park, friends Pamela and Bettina are startled to find something else hidden—the dead body of a local cookbook author, surrounded by broken shells and slippery yolks. The pair are far from hard-boiled detectives, but as they search for clues, they find that the whole case smells distinctly like rotten eggs . . .

I bought the audio version of this book because of the authors.

EASTER EGG MURDER by Leslie Meier:

I fell for the promise of Leslie Meier's cozy Lucy Stone mysteries...and again, I was disappointed in the plot of this novella. It was nice that she mixed in the protagonist of her other mystery series, Carol, from the Pedigree for Murder series which I liked. I found the story rather dull.

The "mystery" takes place in France, which does not convey the small town warm and fuzzy feeling...it also barely acknowledges the "Easter" theme since it only has to do with a Faberge egg.

The ending was rushed again as in several of her latest books (but then the last one was great again). I couldn't wait for this story to end so I could listen to the next novella by Lee Hollis, because this author does not disappoint.

I will cease and desist from trying to read any future books/novellas from this author, and will re-read the wonderful earlier Lucy Stone books, which I have in printed, Kindle and audio versions.
DEATH BY ANOTHER EASTER EGG by Lee Hollis:

All books by sister-brother author Lee Hollis are guaranteed to be fun, funny, clever, and provide yummy recipes.

In this novella we get all of the above, with an Eastertime theme sprinkled in.

Hayley Powell puts her sleuthing hat on when a reporter is murdered in her restaurant. It was fun to catch up with Hayley and her supporting cast, even though some of them just made a cameo appearance…but this is a novella, so it was OK.

In the future I will wait until Lee Hollis novellas publish as a separate books rather than sandwiched between other authors' works.

This novella made it worth buying this book.

AN EGGY WAY TO DIE by Peggy Ehrhart

I have read several of this authors’ cozy mystery books and enjoyed them.

This novella was very interesting and created the cozy atmosphere that I like to immerse myself into when I listen to a mystery. The plot was astute and the ending was quite satisfying.

One annoying comment about later books in this series and also in this novella is the “filler” extremely detailed descriptions of everyone’s outfits, and step-by-step information as to how coffee is poured or a food item is eaten.

Otherwise the series has been one to enjoy.

Three Mysteries to Enjoy...Except for the First.
