Publisher's summary

When the time came to marry, Stephen Mullins, Earl of Stone, did what any good earl would. He choose a proper lady and proposed. Given her gentle disposition and training, she would make as good a wife as any other debutante. He had but one thing left to do before he took her to be his wife.

Lady Louisa Breckenridge was always a romantic who believed in true love. When Lord Stone started courting her, it was all too easy to get swept away by his devilishly good looks and charming words. She fell in love, only to discover she’d been misled.

When Louisa discovers the truth, she runs. Determined to save their match, Stephen chases after her, only to get himself abducted alongside her. As they work together to save their lives, Stephen falls in love with the lady he once considered as good as any other. Too bad she is determined to jilt him.

Can they find their way through the web of deceit and heartache to embrace true love?

Fast-paced and entertaining!

This is the fourth book in the Fated for a Rogue Series, a Regency Romance. I liked Stephen and Louisa's sweet romance. The storyline is fast-paced, and entertaining. I liked the suspense in the story. Marynn Franklin did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good story but uneven narration

This story is fun even though I did feel like lady Louisa was a bit too sappy about needing love in order to be married. It’s something that we mostly take for granted but I don’t think a lady in that time would be quite like this. That’s part of the problem with historical fiction though.
My big problem was with the narration of the audio book. The accents were a bit uneven and the pacing was off. Too much of the story was narrated at the same high level of angst if you know what I mean. Everything was at level 9 or 10 in pacing and there wasn’t enough said in a more calm voice.
Four stars for the story and three for narration.

Earl of Stone!

This is the fourth "Fated for a Rogue" story but reads as a stand alone one. I enjoyed this historical romance with suspense, action, drama, passion and confessions. The story is about Stephen, Earl of Stone, and his betrothed, Lady Louisa. She over hears him speaking with his mistress which sets off a chain of events. After his confessions Stephen and Louisa are kidnapped. Now he must fight what she has heard and their kidnappers. All of this while trying to win over his betrothed and realizing his own feelings. I enjoyed how this story developed, love the characters, but thought the narration could have been better.
