Publisher's summary

Most people run from disasters, but for people like Jake it's your job to get to one as fast as you can. This time he is not so sure he wants to go. A major global pandemic is going on and a major hurricane has just hit the Gulf Coast. To make matters worse, the government is forcing the evacuees back to the storm stricken cities or placing them in isolation and quarantine. His chances of helping others or becoming a casualty himself have just taken a turn for the worse as the U.S. declares martial law for a storm ravaged coast.

Follow this short tale of bad government policy and impending apocalypse. A few simple bottles sitting in a window and a few silver coins. Can this be all that can be offered as a remedy to the virus that plagues mankind? Will the view of the back garden ever get back to the same? Or will it become a graveyard for memories? A post apocalyptic tale of what might be foretold for America's future, the economy and mankind.

Good information, but lots of lousy attitudes

Stopped listening with 56 minutes to go, will explain below.

Things I liked...nice that more than 1 disaster occurring in the story. Too many end of world as we know it scenarios deal with only 1 disaster, this book has pandemic, possible civil war, financial collapse, hurricane with tornadoes. When the end comes, it will likely be caused by more than one event.

Another like: A pandemic is made worse when there is a need to go to public shelter to escape storm.

Good advice such as having 2 months supply of food so you can remain in your home during a pandemic.

What I hated...confederate leanings, apparently the author is still trying to fight the civil war...the emphasis on drinking booze...I drink wine, beer, and cocktails, but that is more a weekly event rather than a daily or hourly event and not a requirement for happiness or survival as the story seems to make out. The disrespect for older women - calling them names such as witches, brunhildes, etc. only for their doing their jobs capably. Typical arrogant male. Stopped listening at that point.

I had planned on getting the sequel, but will not now. I like prepper knowledge incorporated into a story, but not the poisonous attitudes.

I wanted more... but it was a nice read

Would you consider the audio edition of Driving Towards Disaster to be better than the print version?

no idea

Would you recommend Driving Towards Disaster to your friends? Why or why not?

sure. it is nice road trip material (especially now)

What three words best describe Phil Williams’s performance?

okay typical cute

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

not necessarily... it mostly made me think about my friends and family and the ways the government discriminates against and preys on them... but yeah, i enjoyed human natures coming thru (the way he was helped despite great reason not to trust or the way his job/existence was made difficult by jerks)

Any additional comments?

I wanted more from it. Ended in a weird place for me... felt rushed to finish...

A Prepper Emergency managers nightmare

What did you love best about Driving Towards Disaster?

The evolving nature of the disaster and the unforeseen solutions.

What did you like best about this story?

The upbeat humor the hero keeps in the face of adversity. The main character is quick with a joke and seems to just enjoy life no matter what.

Have you listened to any of Phil Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several of Phil`s narrations and this one is right up there with his best works. I enjoy his narrative style he applies to stories.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

nothing spreads like chaos.
