Publisher's summary

Victoria Marshall is living a lie. She works for a member of the Knights of the Dragon, a secret society that traps and uses dragons for their own gain. As a child, she made an unlikely friend—a drakon. He went missing, and she's spent the past twenty years searching for him. The only thing distracting her from her mission is Luther Henderson, her boss's new head of security.

Luther is also living a lie. One, if discovered, could lead to a fate worse than death. He's attracted to Victoria, but can't fully trust her, doesn't know if she's truly innocent or a true member of the Knights. It's not only his life at stake, but those of the people he loves.

As they're thrust deeper into the dangerous dealings of the Knights, they each have to share their secrets in order to survive.

Contains mature themes.

Danger, suspense and secrets

I loved Luther and Victoria’s fated mates with a side of mythical creatures, childhood friends, and long term kidnapping. The anticipation and revelation of the secrets and coincidences in this book were delicious perfection and had me eagerly turning the pages to learn them all. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. Victoria works as the executive assistant to Temple and she has a psychic gift of astral protection. She took the job in order to help in her quest to find her drakon friend from childhood who disappeared. Luther is head of security to Temple and he has his own secrets. Their secrets could get them killed but to get to their HEA, thwart the Knights of the Dragon, and rescue the captive drakon, they are going to have to learn to trust each other and work together. The story includes all the good things you expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends, secrets, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, plot twists, and laughs. The balance between the suspense and the romance was once again done superbly. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

The narrator was perfect for this story. Samantha Cook did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.
