Trapped in an arranged marriage with a beast of a prince, Genya has nothing but his beauty and wits to help him survive.

For nineteen years, I have carved myself into a dutiful son, a courtier of unimpeachable wit, and a genuine delight at a tea party. Now that my success in society has planted me in the path of Mikhail Vasiliev, it's clear I'd have been better off keeping my head down.

Prince Mikhail is the second son of a traitor. Third in line to the throne, he has a reputation for violence, debauchery, and being a thorn in the side of his cousin, King Dmitri. That is until the king decides to get him out of the way—by marrying him off. To me.

Suddenly the prince of a brutal, frozen land, I have no choice but to spy on my father's behalf. From the morning of our wedding, my beastly husband and I have been at odds, but if I cannot win him over, I'll find myself in the jaws of his colossal red dragon.

By the time I realize there is more between us than hostility and mistrust, it is too late. The die has been cast, the knife thrust, and our private battle is set to topple the whole kingdom.

Beauty gets tied to a real beast in this MM high fantasy romance, featuring: the cutest companion mink to ever bite the hand of a prince, two reluctant husbands who hate each other everywhere but between the sheets, and a heap load of court intrigue to ensure things go perfectly wrong for our murderhimbo and his slinky courtier beau.

A queer lovestory with such a lovely energy. yes there is friction between the two leads, but it not a wretched misery.
they get friends, and happy endings.
the normalcy of healthy exploration and unquestioned identity that is a seamless part of the world building made me so happy and content.

I kept pausing the story, wanting to linger in the world.

and the performance of the narrator has a vivid life and emotion.
no computer program could ever replace it and I think it would be difficult to find a living voice to provide an equally enjoyable performance.

Lovely

I picked this up not wanting too much smut and more story. i was almost turned off because at the beginning it had a lot of smut. After that however, i got exactly what i wanted. the story is very interesting and the people doing the voices were excellent. i didn't get bored or annoyed with the performances at all. I'm excited to start the next one!

It took me a minute, but it was great.

This book was so good, I started it and didn't stop listening to it until it was finished. Bought the next two books as well. The narrators were brilliant, the lines delivered in such a natural way and the accents incredibly immersive. The story is riveting, adorable, frustrating, and I personally cannot wait to listen to the next book. The characters are so fleshed out, it made me envious and inspired all at once to improve my own writing. The world feels so alive and realistic, I would believe this wasn't fantasy up until the bonded animals and dragons. Not to mention that I absolutely adore misunderstanding romances where there is a split POV. It keeps you right on the edge of your seat until the last minute. Highly recommend to anyone who loves royal romance with tons of frustrating but realistic miscommunication and incredibly well written, well narrated smut.

The characters, the narration, and the world.

Best balanced narrator duo! Stark and Graves have equally beautiful accents and emotional inflection that are perfect complements to each other. The story is a combination of unique fantasy world, deep intrigue, and a beautiful transformation of forced proximity enemies to deeply intimate lovers. Emotionally engaging, mentally challenging, and a true treat to read! I highly recommend!!!

Fantastic plot!

It is just so good. Enough fun plot, engaging and infuriating characters, voices to die for. Just lovely. These guys had some a-ma-zing women's lilts.

And for such a serious melodrama of a audiobook, there were some parts where I laughed out loud. Unfortunately I become horribly biased if there is one) enough great sex scenes and two) you make me laugh. Some parts with the edit to avoid too much spoiling

"Cuddling, take his penis away", "married a gremlin", "hunting a kraken to make love to it", the way he had mikhail mimicking mother in law, and my favorite string of words evere: "the kind called masterpieces by old who had miserable lives and so thought sufferering was the pinnacle of existence"

I usually have very little patience for characters who don't speak to each other but these two made sense without relying on tropes. Things get real, okay and I didn't think they'll recover. Ah well, I can't wait to read the next. Like. Now. lol
