Publisher's summary

She sacrificed her freedom to save the kingdom from a tyrannical ruler and may have doomed them all.

No sooner has Narissea successfully recovered the Stone Crown and used its power to fend off Inyene, the evil metal queen, she discovers the crown can’t be removed. And it’s consuming her mind with its poisonous whispers.

Irrational commands and uncharacteristic rage burst forth before she considers their impact. Unwittingly, dragons across the land are enslaved by forced obedience to her every word. Not even her own dragon Ymmen is spared from the crown’s powers.

But it’s the voices that drive Narissea toward madness. Voices of the world’s dragons that never cease thundering through her skull - until one breaks through the rest, urging her to take up the throne as high queen and destroy.

In desperation, Narissea seeks Torvald’s scholar king to help unravel the mysteries of the crown’s creation and crush its growing control over her. With her dragon Ymmen and her friends Abioye and Montfre by her side, she can resist...for now. But the Stone Crown has a will of its own - and it will use whatever means necessary to accomplish its evil goal.

Now, Narissea must find a way to destroy the crown. Before it destroys her.

Great conclusion

A great conclusion to a well written dragon series. Ava Richardson definitely has a niche and creates some very unique and creative fantasy stories. I loved the heroine and the characters.

Great story!

Loved this one best of the trilogy. Not thrilled with pitch of voice chosen for performance, but story well made up for it. Thanks!

A good finish to the story

This is a good finish to the trilogy, and I like how it blends in with some of the author's other stories, without really giving anything away or requiring you to read the others. In this book, you really get a feel for just how large the world is that the author has developed, and there is plenty of room for more adventures.

I have to admit that the ending took me by surprise. Over the course of a few chapters I went from sad, to confused, to happy, to thinking "Oh good, a sequel is coming" to "wait, that just took care of the entire sequel in a matter of minutes" to "will there be a sequel to fill in the gaps?" and I am not really sure what I think about all of that. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens in the next round of stories.

As with the other books, the narration was good, but parts annoyed me, especially the haughtiness of the main character. But this did not seem quite as strong in this third book.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.

Challenged

I struggle thru this because the narrator was talking so fast. Even when I played with the speed, her voice was annoying.
This is a really good story told by the person.
