Dispatched by M to investigate the mysterious disappearance of MI6’s Jamaica station chief, Bond was expecting a holiday in the sun. But when he discovers a deadly centipede placed in his hotel room, the vacation is over.
On this island, all suspicious activity leads inexorably to Dr. Julius No, a reclusive megalomaniac with steel pincers for hands. To find out what the good doctor is hiding, 007 must enlist the aid of local fisherman Quarrel and alluring beachcomber Honeychile Rider.
Together they will combat a local legend the natives call “the Dragon,” before Bond alone must face the most punishing test of all: an obstacle course―designed by the sadistic Dr. No himself―that measures the limits of the human body’s capacity for agony.

The impression of Sean Connery as Bond by Jon Culshaw was very good. RIP
I must say this book moved quickly and kept me entertained the entire way. Culshaw was an expert actor/narrator. I was caught off guard at first.. I kept asking myself.. “wait who is this narrator again”? Honestly, for the first chapter I kept thinking Russell Crowe was working under a ghost name. Jon sounded eerily like Russell. I was taken back to the film “Master and Commander” over and over.. I kept thinking.. my God this has to be.. sounds just like Russell Crowe.. I loved his voice. Great actor indeed. Both of them actually.
I read the sad news about Jon.. RIP.
What are the odds we could get Russell Crowe to narrate a few exciting books like this for Audible? He would be great!
Dr. No was absolutely a twist.. full of suspense and action.. terrifying plot that doesn’t go without a steamy wicked romance.. Bond is supernatural in this one.. a serious tough guy.. who.. spoiler alert.. under the absolute worst possible circumstances.. cannot be defeated. Of course he is the classiest gentleman who seems to win at everything.. including wonderful, natural, beautiful love making. What a tremendous killing off of the enemies.. what an extraordinary escape..
