The thrilling sequel to Dove Arising, featuring "a brilliant new YA heroine in a world of true science fiction.” (Bustle.com)

Phaet Theta is a fugitive. Hiding in plain sight with her friend Wes’s family on the drowned planet Earth, Phaet discovers the rugged beauty of the world her ancestors once called home. All her life, she’s been taught to fear the “Earthbound,” and their generosity and kindness surprise and touch Phaet.

But when the Lunar Bases attack Wes’s isolated village, Phaet’s past catches up with her, and she’s forced to choose: stay on Earth and fight beside the boy she’s falling for, or stow away on a Moon-bound ship so she can save her brother and sister from the government that killed their mother.

This dramatic follow-up to Dove Arising plunges readers deeper into a complex and haunting world where freedom comes at a chilling price.

Critic reviews

Reviews for Dove Exiled:

“Phaet is an engaging character, with whom the readers should readily identify.”—VOYA

Raves for the Dove Chronicles:

“Karen Bao is an incredibly talented young writer. Beautiful prose and one of the most interesting main characters I've read. Dove Arising marks the debut of a promising new talent. I loved the story, and I can't wait to read more!” —Christopher Paolini, New York Times bestselling author of Eragon

“Newcomer Bao’s off-world setting and world-building details are intriguing.”—Publishers Weekly

"Characters are well developed, especially strong-willed Phaet, and an even pace will keep teens turning pages. Fans of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, Veronica Roth’s Divergent and Marie Lu’s Legend should flock to this well-written debut effort by 19-year-old Bao." —School Library Journal

"Until just recently, the number of formidable young adult authors who got published before they were out of their teens was extremely small: Christopher Paolini and Isamu Fukui. Well, it is time to make room for a third name in this elite list: Karen Bao." —VOYA

“The 20-year-old Bao writes a brilliant new YA heroine in a world of true science fiction.” —Bustle.com

“Phaet is a compelling, ‘do what needs doing’ kind of girl, and her desperation to succeed and secure her family’s future is palpable…Revelations at the end pave the way for a sequel.”—Booklist.com

“Fans of The 5th Wave, Divergent, and Legend will love this smart, futuristic thriller.” —Justine

I started with Dive arising thru the library then purchased Dive exiled thru audible, so excited to experience this awesome story unwind. I'm not good at leaving reviews about books in detail without giving too much away, but this is a fantastic series! One of the best! The characters engaging & the story unique. Im having trouble finding out when book 3 will come out so I signed up for newsletter

Fantastic series!

I love these types of books so I'm a little biased. It was a good read but there seemed to remind me of a blend of a few books - the Lost Sun, Divergent, Twilight and Spark. Again, I love these types of books and I enjoyed the plot....just wish there was more Wes. It was the middle of the story and it kind of felt like it throughout the book.
