Publisher's summary

Nico met the love of his life when he was 17.

Immediately, he realizes that the gap in their ages is too significant to make a move on her until she's legal in the eyes of the law. So he joins the United States Navy, killing time until he can come home to her again.

But a tragedy strikes while Georgia is alone and vulnerable, and with no other recourse, Georgia leaves, disappearing without a trace.

After months of searching, he finds her, but quickly realizes that she needs the time to herself to work out her problems on her own. So he leaves her be, knowing that if she ever felt anything for him, she'd come back home to him.

But it takes her years to return, and in those years, Nico changes, too. He's seen too much. Done too much. Lost too much. He lives his life as a SWAT officer for KPD, goes through the motions of everyday life, but only as half a man. And not even the good half. The U.S. military saw to that.

When the two finally come back together, one question remains. Will she love him as the man he is now, or leave him because he's not the same man he used to be?

Contains mature themes.

Oh that first love

The story of Niko and Georgia is that of that true love which has withstood pain, loss, and heartache to find their way to happily ever after. The story line was good and the small bits of humor are great. I would listen to this book again. On to the next book in the series

Teenage Sweethearts + Happily Ever After

I really enjoyed this book! Loved the two main characters and their relationship. Both had terrible experiences happen in their lives and came out on top.

Interesting addition

I liked the premise of this one though as each series and story progresses I feel like they get shorter and less developed. While the previous ones were strife with an abundant of story lines the newer ones are getting more focused to a storyline but we're losing the details and inter relationships with other characters that we got before. Narration was done well.

Nico and Gerogia

The first time I read this book was in 2016, since I have re-read it several times. Nico was mentioned in the Lani's other books and he seems a little standoffish. When Georgia enters his life, his world is forever changed and his demeanor changes in a dynamic way. This was suspenseful, swoon worthy, and extremely enjoyable. I loved this story.
I love listening to CJ Bloom and Jeremy York. Narration is perfection.

Something about this story rubbed me the wrong way

Great narrations! Fine story, predictable but the characters are likable enough. This is the second book I think I have read by this author, underwhelmed a second time. It’s weird, the characters always have sex but in both books there was some sort of internal conflict due to religion or “morals,” starting the third (bc it’s free) to see if it’s a trend. Here is what I didn’t like (spoilers): 1) there were little, silly quotes at the start of each chapter that added no value and came off as immature. 2) they are “devout” Catholics who have unprotected sex without talking about birth control no surprises what happened… then mid labor the FMC demanded to be married in a chapel so her baby wouldn’t be born out of wedlock? Yeah that didn’t sit right with me. She would risk the health of her (surprise) twins to get married by a priest? 3) the lack of research regarding pregnancy was off putting. She came full term with twins with no complications then randomly delivered on gurney easily? No
