Publisher's Summary

The number one New York Times best-selling and Edgar Award-winning authors are back with a new a new novel featuring Kendra Michaels, hired gun for the CIA and FBI.

Kendra Michaels is reluctant to help the FBI with the most recent case they've brought to her...until she hears the details: The body was found just blocks away from Kendra's condo. The man was carrying an envelope with Kendra's name on it, and inside was an SD card with what appears to be an innocuous video of a wedding reception. And just one week before the attempted delivery of this mysterious video, the groom in the video was murdered.

As the body count rises, Kendra joins forces with private investigator Jessie Mercado and agent-for-hire Adam Lynch as they discover that each victim played a part in convicting a serial killer years before. Someone has clearly taken up his mantle to exact a sadistic form of vengeance. But who is it? A family member? An old partner? Or is it possible that the wrong man was convicted and the serial killer himself has returned to continue his sick spree?

Boring and Belligerent

Iris Johansen's book have always had belligerent female characters. This one is no different. It's tiresome and annoying. Kendra is supposedly having a "thing" with Lynch but she spends all the time shooting him down. Why he puts up with it is beyond me. And he's seldom serious. I can't even figure out if they ARE having a romantic relationship. It's always arguing, with Kendra wearing a huge chip on her shoulder. The female private investigator, Jesse Mercado, is the same. She and Kendra seem to be the only smart people in the book and they sneer at everybody else. As I said, tiresome and annoying. I can't finish it.

Not engaging.

Too much of unnecessary banter between characters. I felt I was reading a romantic novel instead of "who dunnit ".

Great book

Kendra Michaels and Adam Lynch are a great team. Elizabeth Rogers is one of my favorite narrators so she makes the experience and story better, even though it's already fantastic. Do I really have to wait another year to find out what happens with Kendra, Adam, Jessie and Brock End.?

Loved

When Kendra and Lynch together you know it's going to be a good story. And this is a good story. It even got me a little emotional. Which made the story even that much better.

A very exciting book

I love this series probably better than the Eve series. I think it’s great that Kendra sees so much more than the others because of her past. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t see more of her & Adam’s relationship progress. It went a step farther than before but not enough. I think Iris is afraid to write romance anymore. Still a big fan, I’ve read or listened to everything she’s done & those with her son like this. I can’t say enough good things about narrator Elisabeth Rodgers, she is amazing. She makes it sounds like many are narrating.

My favorite!!

This series is by far my favorite of Iris Johansen’s books. I love the characters, the mystery and the intensity. I’ve followed the characters from day 1 and they continue to develop and “meld”. Start from the beginning; don’t miss a moment in their lives, relationships, and investigations!
Roy and Iris, don’t stop now!!

Do not bother

Heroes not realistic. Narration hard to listen to. Will not listen to any more from Iris Johansen. Very disappointing.

Ok

Struggled to finish. The narrator made Lynch seem like a POMPOUS ___! This is the first time reading one of Johansen's books, not impressed.

Grating Narration

I was excited about this book until the male narration came on. It was so rough and annoying I almost didn’t finish the book!

When bullets were in the story, the narrator yells “BLAM BLAM BLAM”. Utterly annoying.

The “chemistry” between Kendra and Flinch just was not there for me no matter how hard the narrator tried to make them sound.

I was just disappointed. I’ve listened to many books. This narration was the worst.

Good storyline let down by obvious plot twists

A good storyline that was let down by very predictable plot twists.
Would have been so much better if it actually held a few surprises.
