Publisher's summary

If you can count on one thing from "Madea" Mabel Simmons, star of the smash hits Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea's Family Reunion, it's that she's got something to say. For as long as people can remember, Madea has been in the neighborhood - she's the beloved, hilarious, sharp-witted, pistol-packing grandmother who's watching out and speaking her mind.

Now Madea is telling her own story, dishing her memoirs and hard-won, hilarious wisdom in her own inimitable voice (with a little help from her friend Tyler Perry). Madea covers every topic you want to hear her on, from the art of flirting, to love and marriage (sometimes two very separate topics), and raising kids (including the full story on the bag o' belts).

She also opines on beauty tips (featuring her indispensable advice on the miraculous benefits of Vasoline), the healthy choice of a deep-fried diet, and the Bible (including her favorite Bible story, as you have definitely never heard it before) - and pretty much everything else.

Madea has lived quite a life, and she has some stories to tell. And they're all here. As she's fond of saying, "Sometimes life is hard, and you have to laugh your way through it."

Absolutely Hysterical

This book is absolutely hyterical. Tyler Perry is a genious. I have always loved his accounts of Madea, the bigger than life, grandmotherly Black woman in charge of her life and those around her. She is often my hero (chuckle), for who hasn't thought at one time or another to be a pistol-packin' mama or to order our kids into submission! I laugh every time I think about it. What made this book exceptional and a must listen rather than reading the hard copy, is that Tyler Perry narrates the book himself with his ever-familiar voice of Madea. This book starts as a memoir of Madea's life that shocked and thrilled me for it's hillarity. My niece and I both listened at the same time, just to call each other and laugh hysterically at each and every account conveyed by Madea. The book leads to advise for the reader on such things as child-rearing, visiters, and money. Every page is a surprise. Tyler can shock even those of us with the sickest sense of humor. I even have to continually laugh at Madea's mispronunciation of words and her critiques on how people misspeak the English language. TOOOO Funnny!!!! I have read it twice already, and keep it on my MP3 player so I can get a quick laugh at any time I need it, for any place I listen in on is a gut buster. I loved this book!!!! What more can I say. I simply loved it! And I'm laughing once again at just the thought of it.

Getting the Audiobook was the best choice

If you are already familiar with Tyler Perry or 'old school' you will be pleased. Having some of both helps you really relate to the humor and his customary good advise.

The biggest plus is that BOTH Tyler Perry AND Madea are reading it. So reading the hardback would not have nearly the same affect as hearing this duo by audiobook. This was the best choice.

I'm really enjoying it.

Crazy Crazy Crazy Mother Dear

I loved all of the plays and movies, but to hear Madea on audio was hilarious. Tyler makes valid points in a humorous way. I hope he makes another audio book.

Cute funny listen . . .

This was cute because the author really sounds like an old black woman. You forget it is a guy talking. A little tedious at the end when she seems to be lecturing on behavior, and has a few four letter words- which I did a search looking specifically for clean comedy. Oh well, over all pretty funny.

Laughing with Madea!

Absolutely and undeniably MAG-nifi- Cent ! I suppose I wouldn’t have take as much pleasure in it from merely reading it. There was something about having the chance to listen to Madea’s voice that put the fun in funny. It reminded me of Tyler Perry’s plays when Madea goes into her didactic discussions. I love it! Really enjoyed her wisdom or as she would say her wisedoms lol. It’s a must hear especially when all hell is breaking lose. Pop out a bottle of wine and laugh with Madea!
