This is NOT my trope...

In summary: this is a great book starting a promising series. Well-written, erotic more than lewd, and superheroes! This is the best book I've listened to by Anya Merchant so far (and have enjoyed the others) and Alex Ford does an excellent job narrating the book, a virtuoso in character voicing reminding me of Andrea Parsneau in the way she carries the whole book effortlessly. A great read.

The taboo that Ms Anya Merchant excels in writing through her Sin and Soil series is given new life and different perspective and circumstance in this first book in her new series. The taboo is not my thing. Anya Merchant is the only author I've explored in this area and found her Sin and Soil series by happenstance. While there were many things (especially about the MC) that I didn't particularly care for in that one (I have enjoyed the books), I found this story refreshing in its dalliances and entertaining in its world-building. I like superheroes anyway so writing a good story is pretty much the bar I have. Anya has done what all writers do the more they write: they get better. I've only *listened* to her previous series (through Book 4...out of 11 ebooks) and each story got better, fleshing out the characters and expanding the taboo. Maybe it was the modernization of the world in this new series starter; undoubtedly, the superheroes helped. I like this one better thus far.

I'd suggest Anya Merchant's Sin and Soil series for a slow(ish)-burn taboo adventure. I'd recommend this book (and the series, as Book 2 is about to come out and hopefully the audiobook shortly after that) for anyone who likes superheroes and an exploration of a young man's feelings about the important women in his life when he reconnects with them after an absence during his (and others') "coming-of-age". Anyone coming to this book/series from Sin and Soil will be happily delighted in the new adventure. Those looking for a great example of Anya Merchant and her storytelling need to try this book.

Good One... With One Exception

I really enjoyed the progression of this story and the relationships of the characters. However I did not like how weak our MC is when it comes to finishing off the bad guy. Hell with his super power all he needs is a crossbow or a few throwing stars and the fights would be over in short order. Instead he always puts himself at his enemies mercy before the fight even starts. I also don't like how the fights only seem to happen in order to build up a later conflict. Real fights don't really work that way.

The story and voice acting was pretty good but...

The concept for this story was pretty interesting and I liked the characters. the voice actress was very good as well. unfortunately the book didn't contain enough of what I was looking for the "spice" if you will. Kinda a big tease.

A drama filled superhero story

This book is full of drama, secrets And sexual taboo all mixed up together in a truly interesting story. I truly enjoyed listening to this story, but it has too much drama for me. However it’s a truly good read for anyone who likes superheroes and what their love life can be with with multiple love relationships in the same family. Spoilers, I’ve skimmed some of the other books in the series and the drama just keeps on building up along with the sexual tension.

Superhero harem story with a naughty bent.

Full disclosure: I have listened to the authors other story on here, Sin and Soil 1, 2, 3, & 4 and enjoy the crap out of them.

This story follows Anya's tradition of exploring the taboo. This time following a adoptive superhero family who are recovering from tragedy of one of their own betraying them and taking the only son with him down a dark road. Only for the prodigal son to return, and find everyone has grown up and filled out nicely. It's an interesting take on a superhero harem.

I enjoyed the character dynamics and story overall but I absolutely hated the exhibition aspect of the youngest daughter Rue, the Camgirl... the fact that her power is she can look at all the people jacking off to her cam shows is gross! please for the love of God drop this aspect of the story. Keep to the main character wanting her to stop.

Very interesting

Quite enjoyed this book. The MC had an interesting power combination, and each character was unique. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how everything proceeds in the next book. Fingers crossed that I won't have to wait long 🙂

Surprise surprise!!!

So the characters are great. The backstory and flashbacks are just as good. The voice acting was phenomenal. The issues that supers face are pointed out and I would call the scenes borderline edging (your expectations). But done in a truly artistic way. With a valid reason why.
