In Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop inspired people to put his words into action to help them transform their fu*king lives. While millions of fans have embraced the messages in the book, Bishop knows it can be hard to actually take the next step and do the necessary work. Just give it a try

I can go on and on about how the books, including this one have helped me but it does not ring true until you read/hear them for yourself. Even if you think you got it all together there is something in Do The Work for everyone. It's one thing to manage your self talk and start believing in yourself but when you have to write down the how's and why's in Do The Work you (I) came up with a whole different accountability logic, it's there .... in writing.... a promise to myself now I have to actually DO THE WORK.
My hope is you will just give this a read, a listen (which is far more entertaining in my opinion) I'm one who doesn't have it all together and it made me feel like with this tool I have a chance to get it together. As far down the road as that might be I GOT THIS!

One home run, 2 foul balls.

First off, I appreciate a straight shooter. That's not the problem here. My problem is that I think Gary fancies himself the new kid in school who shows up with a leather jacket, sun glasses and a motorbike, smoking a cigarette and using the word "fuck", expecting the rest of the kids to "ooo and ahhh" at his brandish nature- and to confuse that nature with anything insightful.

Just like his previous book "Stop Doing That Sh-T", this "workbook" is basically Gary rambling on about how everyone is doing everything wrong (except for him, of course. Somehow Gary has it all figured out because he has a degree in philosphy and can quote Aristotle and Marcus Arelius). He doesn't offer much genuine insight. He just purports to accuse you of playing the blame game with anything and everything in your life, then tells you to stop, then to write down an alternative. Add to this, I think he fancies himself a good writer when he's not. Sometimes the metaphores and anecdotes are just way off and too labored....couple them with that Scottish accent and sometimes it's just tacky...but I digress.

The rest is just him repeating himself in his Scottish accent about how you fall short of doing anything effectively at all because....well because you're you and he's Gary!

It's important to note that Unfuck Yourself is one of my favorite books. I think it's amazing and complete. I find it sad that this "workbook" was meant to be a companion, because in my view it had nothing to do with the main book. Gary should have left well enough alone. Unfuck Yourself was a home run but this is nothing but a foul.

Another Brilliant reading!

I could listen to Gary give me gps directions and be a superior diver! I could listen to him read recipes, Martha Stewart style and probably become a chef!

This is not a self help book.

This is a get your shit together book! Organize your life and be a better version of your self book!

I’m going to listen to this again and again!

Good day by friends!

Really ask questions that reveal core issues

So much introspection over the years and this and his other books really do get to the core of it. Questions that dig up the things that really guide us, and then how to use that knowledge to make new decisions, act and take a new path. His material and his delivery really do take cut to the heart of the matter... and inspire change and honest action to ward a different life. He can't do the work for us, but he does provide a way to step back and separate from the life we live on autopilot... and then, from that perspective, gives us a place to take action toward a different life. Doing that, taking the action in each moment that pulls us along form the future we want and want to be... thats up to us. Nothing works for everyone, or speaks to everyone. But I genuinely believe, more than anything I've read or heard, Gary's work is worth the investment and definitely worth a genuine effort.

Waste of Credit

Couldn’t make it past 15-20 minutes. Constantly references other book that I haven’t read. Save your credit.

A Must Listen!

If you want to truly know what's holding you back in life, what's really preventing you from success and happiness, this is the book for you.

Do yourself a favor and not only listen to this book, but his other two as well.

Entertaining performance of familiar content

The content was familiar, but I still enjoyed the listen. No original self-help tips, but his gimmick makes it fun - Gary throws in some curses and speaks in his fun Scottish accent about "taking action" in life.

Some of the Best Books

Gary's approach is no-nonsense, in your face, reality for the hard headed. I love his style and own all three of his books, and read them regularly. The books are amazing, and I love this one for the worksheets and helping the reader having to face themselves.

Do the Work

Gary delivers again. He cuts the crap out of every excuse you can come up with to stay in the shit storm you’ve created in your own life. Really, what are you willing??
