Publisher's summary

Immerse yourself in the '80s, where Thursday meant Top of the Pops, Sunday meant taping The Top 40, and photos took two weeks to develop....

Thirty-somethings Tash and her brother Jamie didn’t mean to time travel back to October 1984, but bizarrely, they did, on the very day that Bob Geldof watched the BBC news report which moved him to form Band Aid and record “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Except their arrival caused him to miss it. So because of them, there’ll be no Band Aid, no "USA for Africa", and no "Live Aid".

Jamie wants to find Bob and put things right. Tash wants to go straight back to the 21st century - she has a 5-month-old baby waiting for her.

What would YOU do? Go to your baby or feed a million others?

James Crookes has been writing comedy for TV and radio for over 20 years. He has contributed to shows on BBC One, CBBC, and CBeebies, along with producing and co-presenting the Bauer Radio breakfast show, Big John @ Breakfast, since 2004.

NOTE: Tash is a lovely lady, but like many adults, does sometimes rely on the "F-word" when she's flustered. Please consider this if easily offended or listening in the car.

A Time Travel Story That Works!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! This book isn't interested in explaining how time travel might work with a jury-rigged micro electric vehicle and a 90s home computer, there's just too much at stake if Bob Geldof doesn't write the persistent Christmas classic, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" You're too busy following the hapless brother and sister and their expanding entourage to worry about timeline anomalies and quantum physics. Things just happen and become a part of the story. When the action really gets going it careens around off of places and people, but always brings it back to the relationship between brother and sister and good old fashioned British polite sobriety. The narrator sounds like everything you could want from a very British story, offhandedly remarking on every hilarious detail that sets the scene brilliantly. I was particularly pleased that the nostalgia culture of the 80's was toned down and not on constant display like you would expect on a trip through that decade.
This book is funny and clever, and yet still has time for some heartfelt moments that show how even a weird family is still a loving family.
