Publisher's summary

Rattled by fears, that she is losing not just keys, but her job, looks - even a sweetheart - Gail rashly announces that she will go alone to Paris, a dream postponed for 40 years. So begins the journey through France of an optimistic, infinitely curious, 62 year woman, who seeks to ransom her self-confidence and learn how to age. Deftly weaving scenic description with sketches of feisty Frenchwomen and flashbacks of older women she has admired, Gail draws wisdom from people and places that have gracefully endured the passing years.

Encouraging!!!!

I am planning on celebrating 75 in Paris next year!!! I lived there 40 years ago for a few years. I am nervous now being older and self conscious but her story and the way she dealt with so many situations gave me the I CAN DO THIS! I loved the story and all she learned... especially the "door" analogies. I shall go with an "open" heart and not so self conscious. I highly recommend this audio to any woman of any age traveling alone and feeling a little nervous. 😱
Thank you Gail!

Entertaining travelogue brought to life by narrator

A good story made better by artful narration. All the different accents used by the narrator added even more color to the eclectic mix of characters in the book.

What can I say?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Much could be said for a story. I wanted to like this story, but I felt sad. I wanted to be inspired. I wanted the book to be aspirational. I guess I wanted too much.

Delightful memoir

I decided to order the audio book after working in a small book shop over the summer. Every single copy of this book had been purchased - so I knew I wanted to check it out. I truly enjoyed this memoir and while it was not read by the author, it seemed like it was. It is encouraging, thoughtful and enjoyable - especially for women in their later years as they come into their own and appreciate their stage of life. Highly recommend!

Just what I needed

I was inspired with the author’s journey. I admire her bravery. My husband passed away recently and I’m looking for stories of other women. I have travel plans with family. However I’d also like to do some solo trips. I appreciate her vivid details, descriptions, and advice!
