Publisher's Summary

Love is a life-and-death risk for the Mountain Mercenaries in New York Times best-selling author Susan Stoker’s explosive series of alpha heroes, hot action, and hard passion....

Ever since his rescue op off the Pacific Coast, Mountain Mercenary Gray Rogers hasn’t been able to forget his latest “job” - Allye Martin. Any other woman would have panicked during a rescue, but the wily dancer kept her cool - even after being kidnapped by an elusive human trafficker. And Gray couldn’t be happier when a grateful Allye follows him home to Colorado Springs.... For Allye, finding sanctuary in the arms - and bed - of the former Navy SEAL is only temporary. People are disappearing off the streets of San Francisco, victims of the same underground trade that targeted her, and Allye could be the key to dismantling the entire operation. She’s willing to do anything to bring them down. Gray isn’t - for good reason. But you don’t say no to a tough girl like Allye who refuses to play it safe. Now Gray is risking more than ever before. The Mountain Mercenaries have his back. But is it enough to keep the woman he loves out of harm’s way?

My favorite so far.....

I like this book. I’ve listened to a few of her books and enjoyed this story and narration the best. I really like the women characters in her books, they are all real.
I’ve read some of the other reviews and all I have to say, is if you’re looking for a totally realistic story line, then romance novels aren’t for you. Also, some of the reviews say that the men in these books are a little too Neanderthal, macho, and dominating. Of course they are, they’re all Special Forces! But all the men treat the lead female character with respect and I appreciate that.
This book does have some explicit sex in it, but again, it’s a romance novel so don’t expect anything more.
It’s a good story line and it is the first in a series. If you like romance novels and a good adventure story rolled into one....you will enjoy this book.

Eh, it's ok.

All the men seemed to be a little neanderthal-ish.
The book moved along slowly. It seemed the team seamed to be good at what they did, but only in the beginning and the end.

Storyline ok.. writing was horrible

got through the whole thing because the storyline kept you wanting to know what would happen. the sex writing could be alot more intellectual. Dont get me wrong, I love good sex scenes, 50 Shades is one of my favorites, if written well but unintelligent wording is just laughable for a suspense romance.

I'm a Susan Stoker fan anyway, but this is a great kickoff to the Mountain Mercenaries series. I loved the strong characters and the excitement of the storyline.

Whoa! #TeamGray

Welllll.... dang! I knew this book would be good but, holy crap, it was awesome. Fun, action and a lot of steamy moments all wrapped in one. I absolutely adore Allye! And Gray, dang, talk about an alpha male.

The story starts off with a bang and ends with a bang. I couldn’t tell ya exactly when I started to lose myself in these characters, probably page one. Lol. Gray comes in to save Allye, though that wasn’t the initial plan. It was one of those, right time, right places kind of things.

What started as a chance meeting turns into more. The dancer Gray saves Allye for isn’t gone. Quite the opposite. The man who wants Allye is bound and determined to do anything he can to get her. The men of Mountain Mercenaries aren’t having it though. Gray and his team will do anything possible to keep her safe, even if it means they have to tear up the whole of San Francisco.

Unexpected things from an ocean encounter

Who knew an ocean would be the place to find a deep connection...

Allye, like between two buildings, but he y before the e, was just spunky and talented. Gray was not expecting a rescue mission but got one anyway. He also found that he had a strong connection to the lovely unique woman.

Meeting Gray and Allye was an adventure in connecting deeply with a stranger that becomes more and finding an obsessed stalker. Meeting the band of strong determined protective men with day jobs and hero jobs. Each one had a story and each one gives you a reason to want to know more about them.

Stella Bloom was unexpected but very satisfying. The narration was clean clear and very much appreciate. The accents (love) the tone, pitch, and clear diction was very clear with the visual they provided. Susan Stoker's romances are consuming and strong with clear language and detail.

Disturbing

I love Susan Stoker and have read most of her books, but this book disturbed me so bad. I’m very aware of sex trafficking and the horrors, but I wasn’t prepared for how graphic this would be. It took me over a month to finish it because I couldn’t handle it.

Great and heartbreaking story

How do authors address issues facing humanity? Susan Stoker addresses them with strength of characters and compassion. She is becoming one of my favorite authors.

A Great new series!

I loved this! and listened to it all nearly in one day.

Gray and Allye made a lovely couple. The way they bonded during her rescue at the beginning of the book was funny, cute, heartwarming and had me glued tot he story. I was invested in both of the them from the get go and couldn't put the story down.
I can't wait to read the second book in the story.

Narration was very good and the characters all very well performed.

SADISTIC PERIL

Sadism not a romance make. The ex-army, SEAl, warrior with romance is a new genre to explore further.
