As Douglas Adams points out, if there is no final answer to the question "what is the meaning of life?" 42 is as good or bad an answer as any other. Indeed, 42 quotes might be even better! Gary Cox guides us through 42 of the most misunderstood, misquoted, provocative, and significant quotes in the history of philosophy, providing witty and compelling commentary along the way.

This book was a joy to listen to and the narration was stellar and created extraordinary moments throughout

One of my most favorite audio books purchased

What more can I say. It’s the easiest, wittiest and most fun philosophy intro audiobook I’ve listened to. I have bought many philosophy audiobooks and courses but this was the most illuminating of them all because now I have a map to reading the philosophers introduced here.

Best philosophy intro ever

Cox wrote a pretty OK book and I enjoyed his choice of quotes. The thing that is irritating is audible did not title the chapters according to the philosopher but choose a simplistic chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3 etc. I really would like to go back and listen to several of the chapters a second time but I’m not invested enough to have to go through each chapter and listen for a minute or two to find what I’m looking for.

Okay, but not great
