Publisher's summary

The latest installment in Lauren Elliott's ever popular Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series starring Addie Greyborne, a book-themed cozy series perfect for fans of Kate Carlisle's Bibliophile series and Jenn McKinlay's Library Lover's series.

Wedding bells are about to ring again in Greyborne Harbor, and as Addie slips into her white dress her thoughts are focused on a bright future with Dr. Simon Emerson. But a discovery in her attic leads her to startling revelations about the past. As the owner of Beyond the Page Books and Curios and a lifelong bibliophile, Addie is delighted to find a rare collection of classic children's books gathering dust in a secret room beneath the rafters, including a first edition of The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. To her surprise, a handwritten inscription on the title page provides a clue to unraveling a complex mystery in Addie's family . . .

But that's only the first surprise in a series of shocking twists that will turn Addie's vision of where her life is going and where she's come from upside down—including a suspicious death in the present that suggests foul play.

Two murders instead of one

I like that Addie learned so much history and was able to solve two murders rather than one without Mark or Simon.

Addy turns whimpy

I have enjoyed this series and the author continues to weave good storylines. In this one, though, Addy does seem a bit more whiny than usual. She does have something to be upset about, but I was disappointed that this reaction played out for much of the book. It doesn't really fit with a strong female character who has the ability to solve crimes more quickly than even the chief of police. But, I'll read the next one as I am invested in the series now.

The narrator doesn't really "do voices," but she still reads well and is easy to listen to.

A Great Series

I absolutely enjoyed this whole series. The storyline in this last book was very well written. The characters were very interesting and the secrets that unfolded were Great. It was a surprise to see Addie give up Simon, BUT I for one liked it. I so wanted Addie to be with Mark !!! So maybe ????
Thanks for this last book and I hope you continue the series?

Terrible Narrator, So So Story

I generally liked this series until they got a new narrator who has a voice that doesn’t fit the story.
I did not really like this story, however. How much heartache can one woman take? And Addie did nothing to stand up for herself. She spent most of the book moping around which is unlike her. She should have cut Mark loose as soon as she found out he was still married, told him to come back if and when he was free, taken her vacation and moved on. That’s what the old Addie would have done.

Excellent story telling

The story in this book was really good. We had a present day mystery and one going back 70 years. The older mystery brought together some finer points of Addy’s back story.
Spoiler:
I am so glad Simon is out! I never believed he was the right guy. I can only hope that he remains out of Addy’s life - as much as you can being in a small town.
I didn’t care for the narrator of this story. Listened at 1.4X to make it sound good.

Not credible

I can’t believe that someone who loves someone as much as Addie claimed she loved Simon could so easily write him off because of a long ago relationship he never told her about. It’s just not credible that she would refuse to talk with him and would cut things off so quickly. I didn’t even want to finish the book.

Murder is Messy

It took me a while to finish this book because of the messy relationship drama between Addy and Simon. Their drama overshadowed the mystery, and I had to stop listening several times. As always, the narration was good, but even Lauren Ezzo couldn't help sound sad and depressed.

Disappointing Storyline

After much anticipation from the previous book, this storyline was very disappointing . The narrative was like a pity party throughout,
