Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

My history education has been going on for many years as I read constantly and listen to books including biographies (original sources). When I watch the young generation talking about history it is not they do not know but a lot of what they know is not accurate. This audible book goes a long way of explaining the gap.

As we have just "celebrated" Columbus Day I have not understood the protest. As someone who has read some of the original documents although translated of the era the protest did not make sense. Columbus did not murder natives or condone it. This is the notion from the "Zinn history". Howard Zinn was not a historian so inaccuracies should be expected but the source of his information is even more interesting.

For those who have studied the Howard Zinn story of history you are probably not going to be able to handle what is in this book. Unlike what you had in school this is documented and both good and bad laid out.

For those who have children being indoctrinated in school and universities it may help understand what they are talking about when it comes to politics as that what his history is about - politics.

Zinn’s book was intended for Americans to hate their country and history. This book really exposes Zinn for the Marxist propagandist he is .

A very good book which discusses the account of Howard Zinn's professional career. This book, based on the research conducted, clearly exposes Howard Zinn for the Marxist that he was and how he worked towards corrupting the minds of America's youth.

It's astonishing how sorely needed this book is. If American Education was truly worth something, this book would be totally unnecessary. Mitch Daniels should have stood his ground. He had all the facts on his side, and on top of that had an opportunity to clean house. Grabar gives the so-called fact-checkers of today a course in fact-checking with this work and calls Zinn's many bluffs. The emperor truly has no clothes and it makes me wonder how many teachers and professors regularly stand naked in front of their students while the students have no idea.

Every American should read this if only to hear another view. It is amazing how much of Zinn is accepted without question.

Must read.

This well researched and well written book clearly makes the case exposing that author Howard Zinn as plainly a liar.

I listened to Zinn's, People, and then to Grabar's rebuttal. Mary Grabar work exposes Zinn's craftiness for what it is: an outright skew of the facts to fit his version of American history. Zinn as an historian broke so many rules of what most historians take to present sound research, that it's hard to believe that his book is even deemed historical. All that is basically correct in Zinn is that it is in the right chronological order. So if you want to read a book that exposes the half truths, plagiarism, and bent view of Zinn, listen to Mary Garbar's presentation. Only criticism I have of Garbar is her neglect of real mention in regard to our war with Mexico, Spain, and the Reagan/Bush era. Her research on Vietnam and Zinn's falsehoods is the highlight of the book.

Setting the Record Straight

Some one finally pointed out the utter BS that has been infiltrated into American education and then on to society by the insidious absolute trash spewed by Howard Zinn. Pity that probably 2 generations of American students have been corrupted by his perverse socialist centric rah rah false American history that infiltrating our curriculum. Bill Ayers was right ..the way to defeat American is to take control of the education structure. Unless we who know and can appreciate the idea that is the US system finally speak up en mass..our cultural identity is headed to the trash heap. Maybe this book can become required reading in the US.

Thank God

I think this book does a great job if speaking to the points in howard Zinn's book but falls in certain places by bias in the same way as Zinn. I would still recommend this book highly.
