Resumen del Editor

He's the worst Nazi war criminal you've never heard of

Sidekick to SS Chief Heinrich Himmler and supervisor of Nazi rocket scientist Wernher von Braun, General Hans Kammler was responsible for the construction of Hitler's slave labor sites and concentration camps. He personally altered the design of Auschwitz to increase crowding, ensuring that epidemic diseases would complement the work of the gas chambers.

Why has the world forgotten this monster? Kammler was declared dead after the war. But the aide who testified to Kammler's supposed "suicide" never produced the general's dog tags or any other proof of death.

Dean Reuter, Colm Lowery, and Keith Chester have spent decades on the trail of the elusive Kammler, uncovering documents unseen since the 1940s and visiting the purported site of Kammler's death, now in the Czech Republic.

Their astonishing discovery: US government documents prove that Hans Kammler was in American custody for months after the war - well after his officially declared suicide.

And what happened to him after that? Kammler was kept out of public view, never indicted or tried, but to what end? Did he cooperate with Nuremberg prosecutors investigating Nazi war crimes? Was he protected so the United States could benefit from his intimate knowledge of the Nazi rocket program and Germany's secret weapons?

The Hidden Nazi is true history more harrowing - and shocking - than the most thrilling fiction.

good history

good work with an interesting history that wasn't covered when I was in school. I wish the author had made the supporting documents a bit easier to find but I was able to do it. really my only complaint is how personal the story seems to become.

awesome research.

alot of eye opening info innthis book. i was riveted from beginning to end. the only question i have for the auther and the researchers is why kammler would go into hiding after the war without his family, even some speculation on this subject would suffice but the hard work that was put into this book and others like it is greatly appreciated

An astonishing book!

It is based on extensive research of original documents. Thus, there are two story lines: the tale of the research, and the biography of the monster about whom they write. Please read it.

Could have been better

There is a lot of this book that goes away from the proposed story. Tangents that have no bearing on the actual person you want to hear about.

Tip of the iceberg

The story, intrigue, and disposition of this criminal and those who helped to facilitate his escape from justice is phenomenal. But the weapons hinted at in the book, are just a few things his organization was working on. I suggest those interested in further researching Kammler read “Matrix for Assassination”.

We didn't need the Nazis to build the A-bomb

Interesting but again...it never happened, that the Nazis were able to build the bomb. Many experts say the Nazis weren't that close. Van Braun isn't to blame except for being brilliant and ambitious. He didn't use slave labor here, and if our Govt didn't care then help me understand why I should. After all, we were pretty good at killing anyone who got in our way, how sadistic and cruel is that?

no stone unturned

Great book.

If you have any interest in German secret weapons of World War 2, Operation Paperclip, Wernher von Braun or the V2 rockets you have likely heard of Hans Kammler, at least in passing.
A serious student of the subject has likely known that Kammler was extremely important in the last phase of the war and possibly one of the most powerful men in the Third Reich at that time. Yet there has never been much attention paid to him, why is that?

I myself have been wondering this for years, until suddenly this book appeared in my Audible feed.

It is more than just the story of Hans Kammler and what happened to him. It is the story of the Authors struggles and journey piecing the evidence together, which is in itself quite the tale.

Loved It!

Really interesting story, though a bit dry.

I tend to struggle with keeping track of important figures' names but overall, a good read if you're into important WWII figures. It tells the story of 3 men trying to access records and research on certain SS individuals that seemingly disappeared after the war (some straight up labeled as deceased). I think the story could have used a bit more something to keep it entertaining personally.

Very well researched and a well told story about someone I had never heard about. I would recommend to all history buffs.
