"Raw and gripping." –JASON REYNOLDS, #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Stamped: Racism, Anti-Racism, and You

Justyce is a good kid, an honor student, and always there to help a friend—but none of that matters to the police officer who just put him in handcuffs without cause.

When faced with injustice, Justyce looks to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for answers. But do they hold up anymore? He starts a journal to Dr. King to find out.

Then comes the day Justyce and a friend spark the fury of an off-duty cop. Words fly, shots are fired, and the boys get caught in the crosshairs. But in the media fallout, it's Justyce who is under attack.

this story perfectly articulates the uncomfortable conversation that every black family has when their child becomes a teenager. The fact that the protagonist has lived in recent times and is still experiencing the same level of racism that Doctor Martin Luther King had is no shock the average black family but would be a shock to most. This book eloquently places you in the seat of a young black teenager having to deal with racism, issues are setting yourself apart from the pack, and the emotional struggle of having to have so much trusted on you at a young age. I would highly recommend everyone to read the story so they can have a better Insight of what it's like to experience the black struggle.

Of all the books I’ve read, which varies greatly, I’ve never come across a fictional book that was so captivating and relevant with regard to my own life. Especially so, as a young African American male, who came of age during the tumultuous time of numerous police shootings, the formation of the Black Lives Matters movement, as a result, and the many events to follow. This book challenged me to even face the stereotypes within my own self consciousness. Despite what’s aforementioned, I’d recommend this book to ANY person, whether black or not. “Dear Martin” is truly a masterpiece that should be known as one of the most relevant pieces of literature in our generation.

A MUST READ for young Black Males
