Smart, Funny but Not Silly

I really enjoyed Deadly Gamble, my first book by Linda Lael Miller. Mojo (28) was a sarcastic, amusing and endearing woman who decides to become a detective; Tucker was a hunky cop who managed to be both sexy and good-hearted.

I was leery when Mojo starts seeing dead people, but her "gift" was portrayed in a way that made it blend with the mystery, not overwhelm it. Mojo's friends, family and pets kept the story moving fast with lots of laughs.

wow, wonderful narrator!

the book is good kind of reminds me of Stephanie plum series with the silly stuff that character did. I'm reading the next book for sure. the narrator is what took this book over the top. I'm looking for more books with her as a narrator for sure.

Great Story

The story was great, loved the concept and the characters. There was a point toward the end where it started to feel a little long and redundant, but not long after that it really picked up and carried all the way to the end. Overall great book and super performance.

Great book

A little for everyone, a “who done it “ with some romance, a ghost and a cat but it’s a decent edge of your seat thriller as well... well written and well done for a book that can be easily appreciated and enjoyed by readers of several disparate genres. Kudos.

Hilariously Entertaining

The story and narration had me roaring with laughter,. Susan Bennett is hands down my favorite narrator, and Linda Lael Miller my favorite author, giving life to the story and my funny bone. Looking forward to more of the same. Thank you, ladies. Sincerely, Isabelle

Too looong

This could have been at least 3 hrs shorter without all the unnecessary “witty” quips after almost every damn sentence. The doorbell rings...3-4 witty quips about who it could be,etc. Eating a meal, quips about the food, how they’re eating it,etc. I mean EVERYTHING has some overdone, forced wit, extra sentences. A few can be cute, funny, well placed but this got just insanely irritating. The mystery also could’ve been interesting if it could have been followed. Mojo’s history is disjointed, the timeline doesnt make a lot of sense or why 20 yrs later she just now wondering what happened. Story was clunky, confusing at times. With 3 hrs left I couldn’t imagine what in the world would be worth that much time. I didn’t care who was the bad guy.
