Publisher's Summary

The woman’s bright blonde hair floats in the breeze. She almost looks like she could be resting on the soft green grass. But her brown eyes stare unblinking up at the sky, and the final cut across her mouth is dark with blood. Her words silenced forever....

Late one evening, as the final church bell rings out, Sandra Deakin’s cold and lifeless body is found in the overgrown graveyard with multiple stab wounds. When Detective Kim Stone rushes to the scene, the violence of the attack convinces her that this murder was deeply personal. What could have caused such hate?

As the team dig into Sandra’s life, they discover she believed she could communicate with the dead. Was that why she was targeted? The last people to see her alive were a group of women who had a session with her the night before she was killed, and as Kim and her team pay them a visit, they soon learn each of the women is lying about why they wanted Sandra’s help.

Kim realizes she must dig deep and open her mind to every avenue if she’s going to stand a chance at solving this case. And when she learns that Sandra was banned from the church grounds and had been receiving death threats too, she’s ever more certain that Sandra’s gifts are at the heart of everything.

But just when she thinks she’s found a lead, the broken body of a 19-year-old boy is found outside a call center–a single slash across his mouth. Kim knows they are now racing against time to understand what triggered these attacks and to stop a twisted killer.

But they might be too late. Just as Kim sits down at a local psychic show, she discovers something that makes her blood run cold. Both Sandra and the call center were named in an article about frauds. And this show stars the next name on the list. She looks around the audience with a feeling of utter dread, certain the killer is among them.

Totally addictive with a final twist that will leave you shouting out loud, you’ll want to inhale Deadly Fate in one sitting. Fans of Karin Slaughter, Val McDermid, and Robert Dugoni will love the new crime thriller from best-selling author Angela Marsons.

Can be listened to as a stand-alone.

So Good!

I love this series! This continuation does not disappoint & the banter between colleagues is delightful! Left on a cliffhanger though with Stacey so I’m hoping the next book in the series comes out next week! 🤣

Perfect ending

I really am relieved that the mystery was solved the way it was. I am pleased to see growth in kim but stacey is acting dumb—- hope it doesnt lead to her demise. Very good handling ofthe Church. Sensitive treatment of gambling addiction. Love this series!!!

Love this series, but....

For the most part I enjoy this series very much. It's fast paced, I like the MC's, and they are well developed. Early on in the series I was annoyed by the fact that the author would put DI Kim Stone in dangerous situations alone where she was always hurt or nearly killed. Now I am super annoyed with the way she is having Stacey respond to her current situation as it is totally stupid and unprofessional. And I am annoyed that it was left on a cliff hanger. Obviously I will still be getting the next installment as soon as it comes out, let's just hope it's soon...

Page turner & perfect summer read

Love this author and the series. Could not put this book down and finish it in one day. This is probably one of my favorite books in the series so far. The stories were engaging, and the characters were easy to follow, and there were quite a few of them. Somehow, this book was a lighter read than the others, as much as death can be light. Even the main character took a chill pill because as fans know, she is usually a major ball buster. Perfect for the star of the summer.

Since it ended with a cliffhanger, November can't come fast enough.

Ps. As always, kudos to the narrator. Those books would not be the same without your special touch.

Amazing!

I absolutely love Angela Marsons' Kim Stone police procedural books, and I have read nearly all of them, so I was super excited to get this one!

This is book 18 in this awesome series, and here we have a story about Detective Kim Stone, and her team of detectives - Bryant, Stacy and Penn, as well as pathologist and friend, Keats. I love this team, which are like a family to me, and I feel like I know them so well. I am always excited to meet up with them again in every book. I also love to hear about Kim's dog Barney, and Kim's home life, with her love of motorbikes.

The first case that Kim and her team are working on in this book starts off with a female psychic medium, who is found stabbed to death in a graveyard near a church. Later, a man is also found dead, and Kim and the team need to get their thinking caps on to find out who could have done this.

I really enjoyed the spiritual aspect of this book, and I found it very interesting to hear different perspectives about it.

This is a fantastic police/crime thriller, which I adored, and thoroughly enjoyed reading. It was fast paced, and full of action, tension, suspense, mystery and twists, which I loved. I also loved to hear about the characters personal lives, and their interactions with each other.

What I really want to know, after all this time, is why a TV production company have not yet called Angela to get this wonderful series on our TV screens? Hopefully this is something that will happen, as Kim needs to be on the big screen! People who don't read books are missing out on our wonderful Kim and her team!

I highly recommend this book, and all the other books in this amazing series, which you will love and adore. If you haven't yet picked up an Angela Marsons book, then please do so, as you are in for a huge treat!

Doesn’t disappoint

The return of Kim in this book does not disappoint. She is everything you want her to be plus a little more. The only problem with this book is that I can’t immediately read the next one! Gripped all the way through. A great listen.
