Jason Wade is an East End boxer-turned-police crime scene investigator. He likes his job, has a good circle of friends, and is never short of female admirers. But although on the outside his life looks an enviable one, behind closed doors, he has more than one secret hidden away.

When a female body is dragged from the Thames, the skeletons from Jason's past quickly begin to resurface, and his near-perfect life slowly begins to spiral out of control. But when a second victim is pulled from the Thames with amnesia, Jason questions if the two accidents are related to each other.

With none of his colleagues believing there is a link between the two incidences and ordered to stay away from the case by his boss, will investigating these seemingly unrelated cases lead Jason to his own downfall? And how many of his friends will he take with him?

The narrator is horrible! He never changes his voice inflection! it’s like he’s reading an instruction manual to a bunch of bored teenagers. If you can get past that it’s a good story.

Great story!

I'm giving this 4 stars bc It's been a few years and I still don't see a followup story. It has an ok conclusion, but many unanswered questions. It is definitely a 5 star, fast paced mystery thriller orherwise. If you are ok with violence and killing off liked characters, and a very tough, determined main character and not having a clue whos good and whos evil, you'll enjoy this book.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narrator was good, but I would have liked more expression, excitement. There are many tense moments and tough situations that could have been performed better. 4 stars for him as well.

Tense moments. Tough situations.

Dead in the Water by Donna Collins is an engaging, fast paced mystery with a lot of emotion and twists and turns. Jason Wade is a man on a mission and doesn’t let anything stop him. The other characters are also well developed and I hope there are more in the series. John P. Gowing does a good job narrating the story.

Great thriller!

This was my first experience with this author's work. I liked the story; however, some of Jason's actions made it difficult to like him. I understood that he was driven by his emotions and guilt, but I questioned whether that made his actions acceptable or not. I thought the story was dark and gritty with some heavy themes running through it. Although this story had an ending, there was some forecasting to let the reader know that there was more to come. I thought John P. Gowing's narration was good as his performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
