Wow, this was a new to me author, and man this story really pulled me in from the beginning and now I can't wait to read the second book, so that I can find out if James and his dog Duke make it to portland to be with his mother and sister.

A Boy and His Dog - Loved this TEOTWAWKI Story!

Not usually my genre - as I usually listen to Prepper & Military Fiction - but I love dogs - and Since I read that this was also about a teenage boy with his dog - I could not resist. I'm glad I got it - I loved this story. It was well written and well told. I will definitely purchase the remaining books in this series. Hope this helps you decide - I think you will be pleased with this Audiobook ~ Christian M.

Teen boy and his dog in a post apocalyptic world

FABULOUS — OK, so I have to admit I’m somewhat of a zombie and post apocalyptic junkie !! It’s by far my favorite genre of audiobooks… I loved this spin on the zombie apocalypse because it was centered around a young teenage boy left on his own in an apocalyptic world with his faithful and fiercely protective dog. I loved the story, I loved the dog, I loved the boy, and I loved the narrator… It must be hard to tell a story from a young teenager’s perspective l, and in the teenagers voice, and I thought the narrator did an excellent job. I cannot wait for the second book in the series - as I loved the first one so very much. Keep them coming!! I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone who loves zombie stories :-) - Sarah

Gripping Survival Story to curl up with at night

Loved it - really. I love to listen at night before bed when it’s dark outside and the lights are low... this was a very cozy and spooky story and the characters just like you and me. I loved Duke the lovable but super smart and brave dog, as well as the two teenage boys. The father is a really cool character too. I’m hooked and ready for book 2

Love it!

This was a refreshingly different approach to zombie storytelling. I like the coming of age angle and my heart broke for the boy in this story at times. I will definitely listen the other books in this series.

Lovable Teenage boy and his Dog - Zombie Survival

This audiobook grabbed me from very early in chapter 1. You get to meet the boy and his dog and his strong father figure starting out on a hunting trip in the Oregon Woods... it’s a great start to a great story. The woods hold secrets that grip and terrify this tight-knit family, and so begins this Survival adventure. Really looking forward to more in this series

My New Favorite Zombie Series!!!

I loved this Audiobook. I honestly could not stop listening. The story is really really good and the characters are so likable. The narrator does a really nice job of telling the story and bringing the characters to life; He is really easy on the ears too. I am a huge dog lover as well that just sealed it for me. I will listen again and am really looking forward to the next in this series and hope It will have many more to follow. I loved it!

A coming of age story in the zombie apocalypse

I really enjoyed the Dead State: Fallout. I finished listing to books 1 and 2 in one day. Immediately, I connected with James and his protective dog, Duke. The first hour nothing exciting happens. Still, the entire time my heart was in my throat wondering if a zombie lurked around the corner. James, along with Duke embark on the journey towards home; the road travelled is festered by the violent infected that would stop at nothing to get to them. Unfortunately, for James, the zombies aren't shamblers, they run and ambush. Despite his age, James is a survivor. Along the way, he is faced with challenges, having to make difficult choices, and the cost bears down on him. Overall, I like how Derek Shupert established the basis for the plot and didn't veer off track. The character development is superb; I empathized with James, his protective dog, and other supporting characters. Considering the story is told from a fifteen years old boy's point of view, B. C. Archer did an exceptional job with narrating this book. Overall, Dead State: Fallout is a great addition to the genre, and I highly recommend this audiobook.

Ok

Sorry I The narrator give no personality to the any of the characters and who if they found a back pack covered in blood at the start of a hike would just carry on walking and not phone the police!

A Path to Survival or A Path to Manhood

For an intro or a start to a series this Book really does wonders. 1st off though i recieved this as a free copy/gift for my honest opinion during this covid 19. Overall- I find my self really enjoying this. A sudden new development of a virus occurs. The main character is just tryna wake up and start a journey with some son-father time. And little do you know or even I know. The Apocalyse has merely just started. Personally i love the flow and ease of transition from situation to situation but not only the high points but even the most evident low points as the young Mc struggles and fights his own feelings of low self esteem. Performance wise: I believe the Narrator did what he came to do and kept me glue or rather needing more. Though not as exhillerating as im making it out to seem. You are most definitely immersed within the story. Story wise. i give it a solid 10/10. I get my bang for my buck wanting more and more and mein do you really struggle with the loss and yet hope involved from start to finish. This is definitely a man vs himself moment where he has to become stronger to survive. I love the addition of his pet though as he also plays an integral role of keeping his owner alive and sane enough to continue forward. Definite must read/listen.

Dead State Fallout

This was a very good book.It was slow going and geared toward a YA crowd. Told from a teens perspective,a camping trip with his dad takes a mad turn in a horror filled new world. B.C. Archer was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Fantastic story

The story was fantastic and kept me riveted all the way through. The narration was great, and the narrator has a lot of talent. I look forward to more from both of them.
