Publisher's Summary

When the spirit of a young male prostitute comes to psychic Tennyson Grimm asking him to find the john who brutally murdered him, Tennyson can't say no. Only able to communicate through the use of images, rather than words, getting any information out of the young man is frustrating and slow going.

Cold Case Detective Ronan O'Mara has been on a roll solving cases since he and Tennyson last teamed up to solve the Michael Frye case. Unfortunately, the red-hot romance that had blossomed between them during that investigation is now off in a ditch, thanks to Ronan's self-confessed pigheadedness.

Agreeing to work together despite the rift in their relationship, Tennyson and Ronan discover they are in for more than they bargained for when more victims start to reveal themselves to Tennyson.

Realizing they might have a serial killer on their hands, the two men work tirelessly to stop this madman from killing again, but when the killer targets the son of a prominent member of the Boston Police Department, can Ronan and Tennyson save him before it's too late?

Very enjoyable

Dead Reckoning takes place a few months after Dead Speak. An ultimatum issued by Tennyson resulted in a break between him and Ronan. A break they both hope is temporary. Still the communication between them is sparse, if any. That all changes when the spirit of a teenage boy appears and begs Ten to solve his murder.

When they started looking into his murder, they couldn't have imagined what horrors they'd uncover. Over ten teenage boys had been tortured and brutally murdered, but no one had ever connected them to each other until now. As more and more secrets are uncovered, it gets more personal and more and more dangerous.

Again, I enjoyed the mystery as such. It was another easy one to solve, and man do I want to burn the killer on the stakes, along with a few other not so pleasant things...and I'm getting off track. As I said for the first book, this series should be read for the entertainment value only. Do not expect any procedural accuracy, because that's cringe worthy, to be honest. But as I don't expect it to be accurate, I really don't mind that. But happily follow along where the story takes me.

As for the relationship between Ten and Ronan goes, it feels a bit shallow. There were a lot of things that happened off page and between books that we weren't really there for. Things are resolved too easily, too quickly. They keep swinging back and forward, they are together - they are barely speaking - then they're together again. And everything inbetween feels like it's swept under the rug.

Michael Pauley is a good performer/narrator, but sadly there were a few times his performance of this didn't quite ring true. The emotion, emphasis he added didn't fit with the situation at times and made the narration sound a bit off. Other than those times I really enjoyed listening to this book. As always Pauley has a range of different voices and you never have to wonder who's speaking, so listening to his books is always effortless and relaxing.

I've enjoyed listening to this book and I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Great story.

This is book #2 and I really enjoyed it. Not one boring moment, extremely interesting, very well written. Can’t wait for #3. And the narration is great as well.

Loved it!

I am a Pandora Pine fan for a good reason. She writes amazing characters. Ronan and Tennyson have quickly become two of my favorites! Seeing their relationship continue to grow is wonderful. Their chemistry is off the charts and Michael Pauley does an amazing job of bringing all that heat to life. He gives such a great voice to this story.

This was going to be a tough case for Tennyson

Psychic Tennyson Grim and Detective Ronan O’Mara are at it again, working the cold case of Justin Wilson, a young gay male prostitute.

“Thanks to parents who’d been convinced that tough love would force the gay out of their son.”

Unfortunately, this story hits close to home for Tennyson.

“If not for his gift of being able to speak to the dead, he could have ended up on the streets just like these boys.”

Both men have a strong passion and need to solve this case, while also trying to figure out how to mend their wounded relationship.

I enjoyed that they could still work together even with their rocky relationship. The angst and longing were so palpable at times I found myself forgetting about the case and just thinking, hoping for them to reconnect.

The powerful ending doesn’t surprise me as Pandora Pine is a phenomenal story teller and knows how to keep the suspense, mystery and drama strong. Michael Pauley does another amazing job of portraying both the longing and suspense.

Couldn't love this series more!

The feelings you get when you listen to this book are so intense that you should make sure you have tissues on hand. The suspense is such an amazing counterpart to the love and sexiness that you get from these 2 men. Michael Pauley once again does an AMAZING job narrating. A must read, for sure.

Amazing and series just keeps getting better

Ten and Ronan have hit a bump in their relationship and both are struggling with what to do next. Then, a teen boy's ghost appears on Ten's bed asking for help to solve his murder. Ten and Ronan are back to investigating while trying to work out their relationship. We also get to see more of Captain Fitzgibbons and more of their lives, outside of police work, is developed. You will find yourself holding your breath while you're reading and trying to figure out who the killer is. The author does an amazing job of bringing the focus to homeless LGBT+ teens and what too often happens to them without taking it over the line to preaching. The ending will cause you to gasp in surprise.

Michael Pauley does an AMAZING job with the voices of the characters and is in my top 5 favorite narrators. His accents are wonderful and add so much to bringing the story to life.

Last, you could "read" this without the first but I highly recommend reading all of the series to understand this world. Plus, they are all amazing.

This is easily becoming one of my favorite series

Ronan and Tennyson were a slight bit shaky as a couple after the last book. The case really put a strain on Ronan personally, and they start this broken up. Fortunately, they don't stay that way for long, because they are seriously awesome together. Their chemistry is still off the charts, and I love these two characters. I also found myself falling in love with Captain Kevin Fitzgibbon. He was such a supportive boss, and had such a huge heart. He was great.

In this book, a serial killer was targeting homeless, prostitute teenagers who were kicked out of their homes due to being gay. Ten really struggled with this as he was kicked out, and if it weren't for his gift and finding Carson and Cole, it could have easily been him. The murders rack up, but Ronan and Ten give it all they have to find the killer and help the boys.

I absolutely loved this. This is easily becoming one of my favorite series. The characters are amazing, the writing is captivating, and the concept is super cool. I also listened to this in audio book form, and Michael Pauley is again dreamy and brilliant. I love his narrations, and I love his voice.

Another Great Instalment to the Series

Dead Reckoning

I loved the first book of this series and I was so excited to click play on this next installment. I was a little nervous that the storyline would be very much the same but I worried for no reason. It still have all the parts I loved from the first book with a totally different story. It is great.

I will admit that the timeline threw off just a little at the beginning because although it picks up where it left off, there is a little bit of time lapse in there. The author does do a good job of letting us know what happened, but it would have been nice to see and experience that first hand. Once I got past that, I fell into the story with no issues and loved it. The bond these 2 guys share is just so wonderful and fun, I adore them both so much. I think one of the things I love most is that they're not perfect. They both struggle with handling their own lives and their relationship, but they don’t let that stop them from pursuing a life together and forgiving one another when needed.
We also get to see a lot more of the side cast in this book and I have to say that I LOVE the captain! He is amazing and stole my heart in this book. I’m pretty sure he has or is getting a novella but if he isn't. I NEED ONE.

This one another great installment to the series and I can't wait for the next one. I’m completely hooked. 5 Stars for Pandora Pine!

Oh wow

This book torn my heart out. What an emotional read and its only made better by the narrator doing such a good job getting the emotions across. I cried in quiet a few place's. The story continues with Ten and Ronan looking into the murder of a teenager, Only it turns out to be much more than that. I really cant wait to listen to the next book to carry on listening about Ronan and Ten solving more cases together.

Enjoyable listen

Tennyson and Ronan are on the hunt for a serial killer in the second instalment of the series. As with the first book in the series the story is gripping and keeps you wanting to listen to get to the end. Tennyson and Ronan’s relationship is progressing too, not always smoothly. I like both character, they both make you root for everything to work for them.
The narration is also good, and like in book one, works perfectly with the story. I can’t wait to hear more.

Book 2 is just as good!

I really like this series so far. Tennessee and Ronan are going through the teething equivalent of relationship issues. I liked that Tenn showed some spirit, (no pun intended), in not giving in to Ronan, but sometimes he was a little bratty when Ronan was clearly trying to bridge the gap.
The mystery was good, it had me guessing as to the motive; wasn't too surprised at the perp.
Michael Pauley gives a great performance, as usual. All the feelings, humour can be clearly heard in his performances - this is no exception.
His narration definitely makes this a very enjoyable experience.

Loved it

This time Ten and Ronan are hunting a serial killer, after Ten gets a visit from a young man who asks him to find his murderer, more bodies and spirits are found, so our duo hunt a killer who is after someone they both care about. The characters and world of CCP is growing and filling with even more wonderful additions.
This second book is as good as the first, the subject matter is just as sensitive which could be upsetting.
I loved Michael’s voice which encapsulates who these characters are. This is a series worth either listening to, reading or as I have both, I highly recommend it.

Oh my, this story tugged at my heart!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4.5 stars
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Heat Level: 4
🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration: 5 (Love Michael!!)

Oh my, this story tugged at my heart!!!

I don't know where Pandora gets her ideas but this story tugged at my heartstrings and filled me with joy and sadness. The story follows on from book one and Ronan and Ten aren't in a great place. After the bomb dropped on Ronan in book one he's a bit bruised and doesn't do well with communicating with Ten. When Tenneson finds a young (working) boy's spirit on his bed he has no choice but to seek Ronan's help and they are thrown head first into a troubling case that exposes a serial killer targeting gay street kids. The kids and their situations broke my heart and it saddens me that this happens in real life. No one should be kicked out of their home for who they love and something they can't control!

I especially love Greely and loved discovering more about Ronan's boss Kevin.

This story was a rollercoaster I devoured in one sitting!! Wonderful characters, classic Pandora wit and a terrifying thrill that will hold you in its grips until the epilogue!!

Highly recommended series!!!

Thanks for reading!

Another great listen

I loved this second audiobook in the Cold Case Psychic series. While trying to solve the murder of a young male prostitute, Ronan and Ten also struggle to recover from the traumatic events that ended the first book in the series. Their struggle felt so realistic and touching. Just because you survive doesn't automatically mean you've won, and sometimes loving another person just isn't enough to make everything better. I loved seeing more of Captain Fitzgibbon. Although his decision to take in Greeley seemed sudden and precipitous, it was also very sweet. Whether realistic or not, it made the captain feel more human and relatable. I love the way the chosen family of Tennyson and his friends keeps growing and developing. The mystery is this book wasn't as cut and dried as the one in book 1. Here, both suspects have attributes that could lead to murder, and yet they are upstanding citizens. Watching Ronan and Ten work out the answers to find the culprit was very enjoyable and sets up a tense finish as dramatic as the one that ended book 1. While this is a complete story, Ten does something near the end that seriously affects his life and future. I am eager to listen to the next book to see how he works it out.

The narration was excellent. All the characters were provided distinct voices, and were easy to distinguish. The delivery is smooth and well-paced, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and this is my honest, voluntary review.

I'm hooked on this series

I absolutely loved this story, even more then book 1! The story is engaging and dramatic, the characters continue to grow and the narration is still top notch. I particularly love Ronan - he's such an idiot at times but somehow it's endearing. There's too much virtue signalling but that's my only criticism - fun detective romp and I'm looking forward to the next one!!

enjoyable reading

Wasn't sure about the book when i first started listening to it but soon got captured by the characters and storyline. not sure about Michael Pauley as i find him a little over dramatic, if him calmed down a bit i would have enjoyed the book a lot more.
i would say a must read though!
