Resumen del Editor

Demoted to the cold case squad after shooting a suspect in the line of duty, Detective Ronan O'Mara knows that his career with the Boston Police Department is hanging by a thread. His first assignment is the case of Michael Frye, a five-year-old boy who has been missing for seven years. With no new leads or witnesses to interview, Ronan has to start from scratch to solve this mystery. When he sees a handsome local psychic on television, Ronan figures he's got nothing to lose in enlisting the man's help to find Michael.

Psychic Tennyson Grimm is riding high after helping South Shore cops find a missing child. He's even being courted by the Reality Show Network about a program showcasing his abilities. He has no idea that his midday appointment with a customer, who instead turns out to be a police detective, is going to change the course of his life and his career.

With the blessing of the BPD, which badly needs an image makeover, Ronan is allowed to bring Tennyson in to assist with the Frye case. Being thrown together in front of cameras is never easy, but add in an emotional missing-person investigation, a tight-lipped spirit, and a cop who's a skeptic, and it definitely puts a strain on both men and their working relationship.

When the child's body is found, the work to identify his killer begins. As Ronan and Tennyson get closer to solving the case, the initial attraction they feel for one another explodes into a passion neither man can contain.

Will working together to bring Michael's killer to justice seal their fledgling bond, or will unexpected revelations in the case tear them apart forever?

good not great

So I've not read this author, just listened to this one book.

And overall it was enjoyable. And even though I found through out there were spots I found annoying. Characters saying and not saying stuff. It really was only the last 7-8 chapters when I started getting really aggravated. I could see why, but as a reader it just left me p-offed. Not more engaged.
Makes me wonder, before I buy another is that the normal M.O. cuz if I'll skip.

You've got lots of cliché roles, Irish Police in Boston. Good old Catholic men who never lost the boyhood faith. Dirty cops and super good ones.
But it was all made to work, and even the film crew that you think was or should be more in the spot light, isn't.

Pure entertainment

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - there's something about psychic detective stories that calls to me, and this one is not an exception. I was a bit on the fence for a while, but in the end I realised I just couldn't pass it up - and I'm glad I didn't.

Detective Ronan O'Mara has had a tough year. His husband filed for divorce, he got demoted to work on cold cases after shooting a suspect. Not so much for the shooting, but for his drinking habits when he's off work. After some mandatory leave to get his head back on straight he's handed the case file of a missing boy. A boy that's been missing for seven years. Ronan is determined to find out what happened to young Michael, so when he spots a news show about a psychic helping the police to find another young boy, he hopes he might be able to do it again.

Tennyson Grimm is psychic and has been since he was a little boy and he's devoted his life to help the dead, and the living, find peace. So when Ronan approaches him about a cold case he is more than a little intrigued. After some negotiations, the two, along with a camera crew filming the entire process for a reality show, starts to look into what happened to the 5 year old boy.

I didn't go into this book expecting a mystery masterpiece of any kind. I wanted to be entertained. And that's exactly what I got. There are a lot of things that are unbelievable and not quite right, but read / listen to this book for what it is - entertainment - and you'll enjoy it much more than if you expect any kind of correlation of how things works (or don't work) IRL. For me, the identity of the killer was obvious very early on in the book and I kind of wished it was a bit less obvious. The mystery in general was a good one - but a truly horrible one. Other than that this book gave me exactly what I was looking for. It kept me entertained from start to finish.

Ronan and Tennyson's relationship starts out a bit on the rocky side, with Ronan being sceptical of Tennyson's powers, to say the least. He's not really nice about it either. On the other hand, he's also willing to give the man a try if it could help him solve what happened to Michael. Then, a bit out of nowhere, there is insta-lust and all the mistrust and feelings other than lust and love vanishes like they never were there in the first place. Insta-love is not my favourite trope, but I also recognise it is present in a lot of the books I pick up.

Michael Pauley is one of my go to narrators. I enjoy listening to his voice and I like that he has different voices for the different characters. It's always easy to follow along the story, knowing who's speaking. He also adds emotions to his narration, which is a huge gold star from me, it adds another dimension to the book, brings it to life in a way. Sure, some of the female voices didn't always sound quite right, but hey - no one is perfect and it sure didn't keep me from enjoying this book.

Dead Speak was a really good start to a promising series and I'm looking forward to solve more cases with these two guys.

Wow

Just what I needed. I have been in a book slump for some time. I don't usually read M\M stories but thought I would give it a try. The story was intriguing, well developed, and sexy. Narrator was also fantastic. This book kept me interested from beginning to end. Well done!

Broome's Books Review

ead Speak by Pandora Pine was narrated by Michael Pauley. I’ve heard only the best about his narrations so when I got the opportunity to listen to his work, I jumped at it. He is very distinct and brings more personality to each character. Ronan was alpha male one hundred percent and it came through. There was a roughness to his chapters that fit so well. Tennyson was more delicate. His part, it was one I wasn’t the biggest fan of because he sounded overly feminine and I didn’t picture him that way. The secondary characters all have their own tones, textures and distinct Boston accents. It brought me further into the world and over all I will look forward to listening to more of Michael Pauley’s work.

Paranormal/Mystery romances are some of my favorites. I grew up on stealing mystery novels off of my mom’s bookshelf (Entirely inappropriate for my age at the time lol). It’s been hard for me to find a M/M mystery novel or series that was able to suck me into that universe entirely. Usually there isn’t enough mystery to satisfy me.

This was an entirely different case. I was still trying to figure it out nearly all the way to the end of the book. I did get an inkling towards the end and I was right, but it took nearly the entire story for me to get there.

It was a heartbreaking case and the details weren’t glossed over. Michael Frye was a five year old boy who disappeared from his front yard. Ronan is assigned to work cold cases and he’s at a loss as to what could have happened to Michael. So he goes to Tennyson Grimm, psychic, with the hopes that maybe he’ll get some clue.

Ronan is extremely skeptical of Tennyson’s gift. He thinks it’s a crock of shit and he isn’t afraid of telling Tennyson that to his face. There were a few times I just wanted to pop Ronan over the back of the head for being such a dick. Then there were times I was all heart eyes at how he and Tennyson were together. They were just sweet. And hot. Very, very hot.

Their romance scenes, definitely not something you would want to be caught listening to while you were at work. Which is exactly where I listened to this (Because I’m that person, you all know someone like me, don’t deny it). I also drove around longer than necessary because I didn’t want to get out of my car and go into the house. I did not want to stop listening.

Absolutely Amazing!

I am such a huge fan of Pandora's writing and i was thrilled to be able to hear this book on audio! I love Ten and Ronan and I thought that Michael Pauley did an absolutely fantastic job of really bringing the characters in this book to life. I honestly felt like i was really a part of their story and right there listening to them.
The voices that he gave them was what I thought they would sound like so it made the story much more real to me.
This was a wonderful audio book and I can't wait to hear the rest of this series!

Great new series

Tennyson and Ronan come together to work a cold case in this first
installment of the Cold Case Psychic Series.
Tennyson is a working medium/psychic who helps Ronan with his first cold
case after his unwanted transfer to the cold case squad after a demotion.
Ronan, of course, is skeptical of Ten's abilities. He is a typical grumpy,
gruff alpha type police detective, who is struggling to prove himself after
a case went bad and he killed a suspect.
Tennyson is a very kind, empathetic soul who can see and speak to dead
people. He works to help reconnect families and lost souls, providing
readings to those left behind. He teams up with Ronan to help find a
missing child. When Tennyson speaks to the spirits who appear to him, his
compassionate nature is so apparent. When he speaks to the ghost of
Michael? I fell in love and cried big crocodile tears. I felt like I was
right there in the room with them. The gentle way that he speaks to
victims is I think the best part of the story, and really draws me into the
story. Ronan? He's not a softie on the outside, big and brawny with the
typical grumpy cop exterior. But inside, he's a softie. And when he calls
Ten "sweetheart" my heart kerthumps. I love the connection between the
characters, and that the skepticism does not last forever. They make a
fantastic team and are on their way to making a great partnership. As a
crime drama it is not completely realistic but enough so that it didn't
bother me at all. I really enjoyed this book and happily anticipate
reading the rest of the series. I can tell this is going to be a series I
can reread / re-listen to many times.

Michael Pauley is a trusted narrator, and I never have to decide whether to chance a purchase when I see his name. His style has really grown on me. I love his take on Tennyson especially, and I love that little snort-laugh thing he does. He’s made this series one I will continue to listen to!
