Publisher's Summary

Dead Guilty by Michelle Davies is the captivating fourth novel in the critically acclaimed Maggie Neville series, following False Witness.

Has the killer in DC Maggie Neville’s cold case returned after a decade of silence?

Katy Pope was 17 when she was brutally murdered on a family holiday in Majorca. Despite her mother’s high rank in the Met and the joint major investigation between the British and Spanish police, Katy’s killer was never caught.

Ten years later, Katy’s family return to the Spanish island to launch a fresh appeal for information, taking with them the now skeletal team of investigating Met detectives and newly seconded Maggie as the family liaison officer.

But Maggie’s first international investigation quickly goes from being more than just a press conference when another British girl there on holiday goes missing, and Katy’s killer announces that it’s time for an encore....

A bit silly with ridiculous accents

Quite disappointed with this one as the story line was rather ridiculous and all the accents put on by the narrator were cringey!

Not as enjoyable as previous books.

Started off good, but soon got silly. Would have been solved first time round and blatant red herrings made it silly. How many times could the author use the word flo! It got annoying.

Unlikable protagonist - Disappointing

Everything - apart from the heroine - was shaping up to be a great read.

It loses all the points on the character of the heroine; I've not come across a less likable character over the 52 years I've been a bookworm.

She behaves like a walking hand grenade and has the same impact on her "loved ones"; she demonstrates zero love or respect for those she professes to love; she does NOT learn from her mistakes and is unprofessional. There's no way a human being can have that little;

- social/emotional intelligence
- loyalty and trustworthiness in her personal life

and not carry that through to her job. Uggh she's awful.

I cannot like her or feel any sympathy for a lead character who displays such limited personal integrity or the ability to learn from life lessons.

I won't be buying any more books featuring this character and probably not from this author.
