Very good story/addition to the series :D

4 stars

This was a very good story and addition to the series. I liked both Emeline & Dragomir very much and was happy with their story.

Emeline is a woman with psychic abilities, one of which is prophetic dreams. She grew up and is BFFs with Blaze (the heroine from book # 23.5, Dark Crime). Emeline was captured by some vampires while she and Blaze were trying to save some young children. Emeline went through hell and came out of it with issues but she felt so tainted that she refused to let anyone near her most of the time, even to help.

Dragomir is an ancient in the race of Carpathians. Carpathians are born vampires with other abilities like shape shifting (to any form, even mist), magic spells and psychic powers. The males of the Carpathians have a darkness in them and if they don't find their lifemates, they can lose their souls and become evil. Dragomir used to live in a hidden monastery that's filled with ancient Carpathians that are too far gone to hunt the vampires any more but don't wish to meet the dawn. Renewed hope of finding his lifemate prompted Dragomir to reemerge back into the world.

Dragomir was in the area and got called in to help when a master vampire started threatening the local hunters, their lifemates and some children the Carpathians had saved. The compound everyone is staying on should be safe but the master vampire is being much more tenacious then normal, insisting on sticking around and continuing to cause trouble with his minions rather than tuck tail and run as is normal for their kind. Emeline was given a house to use on the compound and stays there all the time, refusing to see just about everyone except the children she helped rescue. Emeline has seen Dragomir in some of her dreams but she sees what she believes is his death while trying to save her so she tries to avoid his notice.

When Dragomir does finally meet Emeline, it's in the middle of an attack and his sudden return of emotions and colors certainly hinders his normal fighting abilities (at least for a bit). Regardless, Dragomir is able to hold off the attack with some help and ends up finding his lifemate in Emeline. Unfortunately, the vampire that tainted Emeline can talk to her in her head and she's been under constant emotional abuse for weeks (as well as physical pain) and because of her state of mind, she doesn't believe Dragomir when he tells her that she's his lifemate. Emeline did have reasons to fear being completely open about what was done to her but Dragomir is completely supportive and does whatever is needed to keep her happy while convincing her that they're lifemates...which does eventually happen. Dragomis makes sure she has the home and acceptance she needs while taking out threats to their well-being and the story ends with Dragomir and Emeline happily starting a HEA (with a bit of a head start).

This was a very enjoyable story. Emeline went through hell for a few weeks and I could understand what drove her to that place, so while I found her doubts in Dragomir a bit annoying, I could understand how she got there. Once she was free of the vampire taint and was doing better under Dragomir's care, I liked her very much. Dargomir was a really good hero...sweet and supportive while still being badass. Overall, the story was very good and kept me engaged throughout so I'd recommend the story/series. :)

Narrator Jim frangione great but story is not

This was the worst dragging story of all this series. I'm so disappointed that Ma Feehan has continued the trend of shorter and shorter story content. I will not be reading this series anymore. It seems selling books is her career instead of writing. Sad day for this one time fan.

Great audiobook

While I enjoy the ongoing storyline of the Dark series, it has become so fantastical that it feels far off from the beginning books within the series. There is more description and feelings for each little thing that a reader can tell it is filler to make a longer book. I'm usually not one to complain about that, yet the last few books seem to be all that and little substance. If I was reading the book I would have skipped chapters that felt unnecessary. As it was listening to it, I got sidetracked several times which is beyond abnormal for me. I usually get so engrossed into an audiobook that when I drive I seldom remember driving from A to B, all I remember is the chapters it took to get there. I hope the next book doesn't have the endless descriptions and repetitivness (is that a word?) that these last few in the series have had.

The narrator was great as usual.

Dark Legacy

Great story! Listened to the audio continuously. Has several couples and other hunters in it. My favorite type of the dark series is when there are several hunters/groups together. There is clearly a story of one couple but other people introduced and former couples and people brought back. New developments has really added dimensions to the overall plot and continued conflicts. Bad guys are given more depths. Looking forward to next one!! Thank you! Good performance. Only type better is when there are more than one reader for female and male parts. But that is just personal preference.

omg another amazing book

I am a longtime fan and faithful reader of Christine Feehan's Dark series. Dark Legacy is not for the faint of heart and I must admit it took another read to understand the true magic and majesty of the story. After the first read, I was heartbroken to discover the horrific torture, rape and abuse of a sweet character introduced into the storyline several books ago. Sadly, the current political climate, social & civil discontent, the loss of lives & homes from recent natural disasters and threat of war have dampened my spirits and colored the enjoyment of the story. Thankfully, I let it rest and gave it another read. Amazingly, the second read captivated my attention from the first page until the last. Dragomir Kozul is an ancient, ancient Carpathian warrior that has spent the past several centuries in isolation with other members of the brotherhood in a hidden monastery high up in the Carpathian mountains. Given a brief respite from the never-ending darkness and the possible location of his lifemate, Dragomir arrives in San Diego, California to assist a fellow warrior under attack by a horde of master vampires. Much to the Carpathians surprise, the infamous head of the vampires, the Malinov brothers, have massed an army of vampires and puppets and created a vast underground network housed beneath the city. In the midst of the initial attack, Dragomir heard the cry of HER voice, his lifemate, Emeline Sanchez. Dragomir has spent the past several centuries with the brotherhood in isolation and unused to human interaction during modern times. Emeline was brutally attacked by the vampires and suffers from constant mental attacks nightly. She harbors secrets and won't allow anyone to heal or assist her. Surprisingly, Dragomir isn't the autocratic, chauvinistic, insensitive cave man I expected. With a great deal of patience, sensitivity, love, honor and respect, Dragomir courageously gains Emmeline's trust and together they forge a strong foundation for a lifetime. The road to happily-ever-after is a difficult journey plagued with monstrous pitfalls but the Carpathian community is a resilient one and comes together as a family to deal with the crisis. This story was vintage Christine Feehan at her best. Secrets were unveiled, a few mysteries resolved with several surprises along the way. And my precious Gary Daratrazanoff played a pivotal role center stage to heroically save the day. Bravo Christine!

Beauty and the Beast?

Dragomir and Emeline are perfect together. They each have been through a lot. Emeline has been keeping a big secret from everyone. Not only that she knows what is going to happen before it happens. Vadim has been trying to get to Emeline for a couple of books now. We really do not know why until this book. There are a lot of secrets that were revealed and there are also a couple things that no one thought of after it happened. If you have read anything from Christine you know that she will bring up what was glanced over in future books. Dragomir was not pushy with Emiline like other males. He wanted her to accept him the way he is verses not being forced to. He was very sweet with her but also let her know that if he tells her to run to do that and not fight. I also loved the way he was with Carsima, their daughter. I can already tell that he is going to be a big ole softy when she is born. In this book a big battle occurred but also the villain everyone was focused on was a minor player. His brother is the one that they should have been concerned about. I am excited to see what happens next because there were new characters introduced and also new abilities. SN: The Ancients are funny. It is mentioned they do not understand humor but their one liners are great! I know that Ferro will be getting a book but I am wanting Sandu to get one. He is so funny in this book and I cannot wait to see what he says when he can understand what humor really is.

I enjoyed this book so much. A continuance of the events from Dark Carousel and Dark Crime this book was right on hit. I will anxiously be waiting to get the following books that I know are coming. Yes!

not to impressed

was only worth reading the last few chapters *sigh* yes I was disappointed iv been waiting for this for a year. I think it should of had maybe another life mate pair in it. I found myself bored very quickly. it had the potential to be so much more.
I recommend it just so that you form your own opinion. I plan on listening again in a few months once the hype has died down to see if it's changed my mind (doubtfull)

loved this book

I have read this book and loved it so got it on audible as i do with my favourite books. i found the narration didn't allow me to fully get lost in the story (as i do when i read) because it was all done with an American accent. many of the characters where ancient European and behond so the narration didn't fit. narration in dark slayer and others where far superior.

Love this series

A great story. One filled with angst, fear and emotions. Dragomir has had enough of life, but refuses to end it by going into the dawn, so he fights with honour, he fights to meet his life mate (although he’s sure it will be in the afterlife) And as a master vampire tries to kill everyone in the compound that he resides in, Dragomir will fight till the bitter end. Never realising the woman he has seen in the compound is actually his life mate !!! Her voice brings colour and emotions back to him in a wild rush ..... Emaline has been captured by a master vampire in a previous book, she’d been abused by the vampire, infused with parasites that were slowly driving her mad. The story goes on to unite Dragomir and Emaline and their fight to rid her of the parasites and to be free of the master vampire. Another great story. Long may this series continue.

AN EMOTIONAL ONE

What can I say except, Christine has gone & done it again. Gawd how I felt for Emeline, with what she had gone through, with evil of vampires. It Just sends more than a shiver down your spine. But the joy's she get keeping an eye on the children she had saved from the vampires. But then comes the strength of rugged, centuries old Carpathian Dragomir, that is there for ALL OF HER. loved it

Excecllent

This is the story of Dragomir and Emeline Sanchez. Emmeline has amazing gifts and while saving children from vampires is taken prisoner by a master vampire and the results are devastating and she ends up hiding in a compound afraid to leave her house, When the master vampire attempts to reacquire her things take a dramatic turn and her world is turned upside down and could be wonderful if she could just trust it but, having been a street orphan abandoned by everyone will make that very difficult. I highly recommend this audio book and the series as a whole.
